I painted mine with hamerite metal smooth, covered in brake dust, but otherwisee fine and never as bad as some of the pictures here! 3yr old car and never that bad, only painted by me last yr.

BTW does anyone in the Kent area know of somewhere that can fix alloys and match the andromeda wheel colour ? Mrs M managed to make a good job of the nearside front at a drive through the other day aghhhhhhhhhhh !!

I had my 18" wheels touched up by one of the more reputable chips away guys (he does all the work for BMW and one of the others in aberdeen).

I noticed that some of the spray over area was starting to flake off, and you could also scratch it off with your finger nail. He came over when i called and got his cheque book out when he seen the wheels.

The alloys are Powder Coated, not just painted. This ment that the respray paint was unable to adhere to the orgional undamaged areas.

There was no point in him re-spraying as the same would only happen again after a few months.

He was surprised they were poweder coated as hes only had 2-3 this year with that. Its a much more durable coating and more resistant to stone chips, and if you do scrape it, corrosion cannot spread under the coating.

These cannot be resprayed by mobile touch-up systems. They would have to be shot blasted and re-powder coated.

If you do get somebody to look at them, ask them about it, I dont know if all 18" andromeda wheels have this.

Strange had 2 of my 18" alloys done by a mobile unit over 12 months ago and they are still perfect.......

Just had my rusty hubs done in black, goes really well with the white car
products used both from Halfords, primer & "very high temperature paint"

The contrast against the standard wheel colour goes really well
