just thought id add my two penny:
ive had experiences with
several SEAT dealers
SKODA dealers
AUDI dealers.
and before that 2 VW dealers,
All in a hope of finding a competent dealer. Have i found one, - not yet. they all cocked up in some way .
these include:
damaging a wing leaving a 2"by1" section with no paint, - not mentioning this...
Damaging some electrical equipment in my car when they 'wiped' over the interior. again they did not mention this.
Not doing work they charged me for.
Doing work that did not solve a
problem, having the car for 3 weeks... basically guessing changing bits and then trying to charge me for it all having never advised me of any addition work / costs.
Last week i picked up a part, parked in the customer space but was blocked in by a technician who parked across 3 cars.. then buggered off...
Fitting wrong parts.
Supplying the
lower strut brace for the LC, with associated bolts. "leave it with me i know what you need".. only to find they supplied only one captive nut for an item requiring securing at both ends..
refusing to complete warranty work, not becuase they disagreed the part was faulty, they argued i had no warranty despite me showing them the warranty paperwork and receipt with their signature on it.
Trying to sell me HT leads (another VAG car) saying it was running on 5 not 6 cylinders.. for £200! when i picked the car up i found they simply had not plugging one of the HT leads onto the spark plug.
Telling me brakes pads were 1mm, - a simple blatent lie.
Loose wheel bolts.
Overfilling the oil is common.
Washing the car when i specifically tell them not to and was written on job card.
and get this, i joke you not: WASHED HALF OF THE CAR. - not top to bottom, one side done, one side not.
And as for them using forums to find out how a job is done, you might not believe this, but its pretty common practice. I have chatted with 3 dealers who have done this, they dont tend to talk about it though as they are the 'experts'. and in anycase, if they dont use forums they call seat technical who advise them of things to randomly try..
SEAT UK customer services.. what can i say. Nothing complimentary im afraid. Their usual tactic when they want to get rid of you is to say - pay for the work and call back to request a goodwill gesture..
Three problems with this.
1. - you then have to pay an expensive bill yourself for a car that might be warrantied..
2. - they appear to forget any previous conversations or suggestions a goodwill guesture has been discussed..
3. - they simply dont pay up.
