Bought myself a car yesterday, first one I've ever bought, found a nice looking Ibiza and went for it! I pick her up Tuesday!!

I got it with a years warranty parts and labour, it's a 3door 52 plate and should suit me fine!

Only problem is, which the garage reckons they can sort is there are quite a few scratches on the paint, mainly on the drivers door where keys have been, these are VERY shallow scratches and if they don't come out I am sure I could get a touch up pen and go around it.

I did notice that the indicator was silent when I used it, looking through the forums it seems a few people have had this problem and looks to be fairly easy to fix. We'll see.

Here are a few pictures I took whilst I was there, will get some better ones when I pick it up.

Only a few crappy pics from my phone.

What do you guys think?

EDIT: Can't post without removing the links so I've edited them =]

EDIT2: I just remembered there are a few scratches on the chrome as well, like the boot lever, how easy is this to restore?

first thing welcome to scn :D hope you enjoy your car mate as much as some of we do

love the colour, navy blue is quite a rare colour for the mk4. cant say ive seen one before heh. need to get some alloys though, the S plastic wheeltrims dont do the car any justice

I do plan on getting some alloys once I get some money saved up again. Head unit is my main priority!! I'm thinking of getting the SX alloys as they seem to do the job and look nice.

What are the speakers like on these ? I was in the car when my dad did the test drive but didn't crank them much as we had the salesmam in the car.

heh i cant say i blame you, i think changing the cd player was my first mod. got a pioneer mp3 one now, its much much nicer and the red lights match the dash, looks awesome.

alloys are a must on the S, really does make it look much nicer, especially when they're clean :p ive got the SX alloys on my S, ive got some pictures before and after if you want to see, check the link in my sig

i actually think the standard speakers are actually quite impressive, infact theyre the nicest standard speakers ive heard on a car, great clarity but the wattage isnt fantastic. they can go decently loud though. i actually havent replaced mine yet as the standard ones have been acceptable

Lovely colour.
Only other one I've seen is Andybon's on here, and he made it look fantastic.

For the paint scratches around the door lock, I'd say go easy with a touch up pencil as you could end up making things a lot worse. As your car is dark blue, maybe you should just try using one of these Turtlewax colour polishes with the additional crayon to mask the scratches if there is no rusting. Chrome "wear" is unavoidable and I'd reckon that you would need to replace any bits that really annoyed you.

Thats a very nice colour [B)], some SX alloys would suit it well, i like those wheels.

stezo2k: Your 1.2 is very nice, i like the mods you have done [B)]

What do people think to the 1.2 Ibizas? Reliable, Economical, Performance?

Edit: i almost forgot, brasso can be good for removing scratches, have you tried that? Should work best on the chrome 'effect'!

very nice 1.2, Hopefully the scratches come out easy however Seat's paint is terrible and even the smallest of scratches can sometimes cause major damage!

I agree, Get some seat wheels
I've seen an amazing Set of black and silver SEAT wheels I'd recommend them.
Great colour car too, I had a 1.2 not very economical but you'll drive it at full speed everywhere anyway!

1.2's are the tits!

They punch well above their weight, will tackle motorways too, and fuel economy is more than enough! :D

nice sound too (especially once a performance filter is fitted)

anyone not convinced should watch the whatcar video review of the Mk4

i can't post URL's, but just search "Seat Ibiza 02 video", and click on the Whatcar webby..

enjoy ;)

And also, a great set of wheels for the 1.2 would be the 16 inch FR wheels, you can pick them up cheaply off Ebay usually...

saw 4 with tyres for £180 :p

I really like the SX alloys, i dont think they're appreciated enough to be honest though some FR wheels would go down a treat ;)

Cheers btw mate, much appreciated. i havent done as much as i'd like though, still plenty left to do :) i just love the colour, its nice to have something a bit different. the volcano red is quite a rarity, i think ive only seen one other member with the same colour in a mk4

I love my 1.2, its been pretty reliable, mines done 73k. only thing ive had to change is the suspension bushes since i had it. its decently economical, i usually get around 300 miles out of a tank. only thing is having a 1.2 a quite heavy car you do have to push it to get something out of it. only thing i'd change is it being a bit quicker. i love the noise it makes around 3000rpm+ though

180 for FR wheels? my god thats a bargain. i paid 150 for my SX ones. i'm pretty interested actually

Thanks for all the replies, really making me feel welcome and feel like I've made a good purchase!

If you do get some FR alloys Stezo, I'll take the SX ones off your hands :D

Also, if anyone has an eBay link to some alloys like SX or FR ones I'd appreciate a link as I'm not good at searching for stuff like that !

^^^^^^^metal type.........Aluminium

Yeah right, why do people think that ALLOY MEANS ALUMINUM

An alloy means a mixture of 2 or more metals where as aluminum is a metal in it's own right and aluminum wheels cost a lot more than £240

definately, its a really nice colour. stands out more. i wouldnt mind having one that colour myself :p

heh sounds good mate, i'll be sure to do that buddy :) id love to if i can get some cheap FR ones, ones a bit scuffed though. i'll message you if i do find some, i wouldnt ask too much for em

btw i cant seem to see those £180 FR ones on ebay unless it was a auction that has increased in price

edit: btw be sure to check out this listing, looks like they might not go for too much as theres not much of a discription. they're very similar to the SX ones
