I've had 6 tankfulls now................I've found it a bit more perkier (I used to use Ultimate) but when I first used it I found it suddenly had a boost at about 2K rpm..........but thats not the case now...........BUT it does produce alot of white smell smoke on startup nowdays..........never had that with any other fuel.................I just hope its cleaning my engine..............I like the iidea of it being pure as its liquified from a gas

I decided to fill up with this again last week as it was on offer, and thought it was only fair to give it another try.
Have to say i'm standing by my first post on this, as the power seemed to drop yet again and the response seemed very poor and overall the car feels terrible to drive, BUT i had a thought and decided to give it a go....
This morning i reverted the ECU back to standard by altering the softcode for the remap. Car now runs far better in standard form on V-power than it did in standard from on normal fuel.
Its still nowhere near as good as it would be with the remap on and running on shell extra, but at least i can now drive the car for the remainder of the tankfull with a it feeling smoother than it was.
I'll be filling up with extra again ASAP and putting the map back on when V-power is all gone and never touching it again.

Sounds like the remap isnt taking advantage of the fuel. What I will say is give the ECU a chance to adapt to the fuel when remapped. It does take 2-3 tank fulls

I found the map adjusts back to shell extra quicker than it adjusts to V-power, and with the extra cost incurred on V-power, i'll just buy the cheaper Extra stuff from now on.

Mine seems to be ok with V-Power, on my 2nd tankful, doesn't seem to smoke as much :D

Can't say I notice any performance gains just yet but it takes a while to get used to this new fuel... 105p the other day! Ouch!

Copied from Shell website

Unique synthetic gas-to-liquid (GTL) fuel technology

Shell V-Power Diesel is the first and only performance fuel to incorporate the revolutionary gas-to-liquid (GTL) technology. Synthesised from natural gas - with outstanding ignition quality and exceptional purity for cleaner, efficient combustion – Shell has been a leader in the development of this special fuel component. GTL products are colourless, odourless and virtually free of sulphur.

In summary i like the fact it is clean and clear :)

EDIT: Reading the shell website again they must have repeated themselves a good 20 times on how it cleans the engine...i feel indoctrinated :D

From what it says on the vpower website all i can see is that its got more detergent in it so i dont think ill bother with having only 800 miles on the clock cos it wont make any difference!

I did swear by it when i had the old LC petrol - made a significant difference in that with the higher octane rating! As for the diesel not convinced!

For the 6 months I've owned my Leon its ran on BP Ultimate. Just recently I started using Shell Extra and noticed that the car felt smoother and noticably quieter both on the road and on idle, but the car certainly smooked alot more. No notacible difference in power exept the BP felt had the edge at the top end, (but its not often it sits there). The last 2 full tanks have been V power after about 200miles the car did again feel smoother and more responsive and better at top end than ever before. I've noticed alot less smoke as well. My experiance shows that when I went from Ultimate to Extra I gained about 25miles more than before per tank. I now await to seel how many miles I cna get before the light comes on with V power. Normally Ultimate was around 500miles per tank and Extra was about 520miles. I certainly would keep using it due to alot less smokey, but I now have just got my necter card and I'll be going back to the BP me thinks for the points.
I do vent my tank when filling and from the light just coming on I seam to get about £57 of diesel in when venting no matter where I go, but the different pumps fill up at different rates its hard to tell if your filling up with the same amount everytime. I cetainly feel that the V power gurgles alot less when fill reducing the amount of venting time are required

I been working in Walsall yesterday and just done a 300 mile round trip. This is what my 5th tank full of v-power maybe 6th...I got 63.9 miles to the gallon. Yes I did granny it there and back doing 60-65 mph in the slow lane. I would say V-power is worth the extra as it makes hitting 5-600 miles a week so easy on the motorway.

What do you mean by "vent" the tank?

There is a small valve (little pin) in the side of the filler cap. Push it to the side with the nozzle and you'll hear a pshhh. This the the excess air from the tank. Dont know the exact science behind it. Something to do with the way the diesel gurgles when you fill up. This lets you get more fuel in. Dont be doing it to much on a hot day. Unless your going to be driving for 10mns or so.

What difference will a hot day make? Diesel doesn't suffer heat expansion till about 50+ degrees, unlike petrol.
brim it and cap it, i always do and never suffer any leaks.

Thanks for that just wouldn't like to give people the wrong info and something happened. I know the fuel expands just didn't know the exact science behind it.:)

No probs mate.
Petrol is the one to avoid filling to the brim, especially on hot days.
That said, if your fuel cap leaks, Diesel is nasty on the road as it won't evaporate off, so maybe an idea to check your fuel cap before filling to the brim ;) (i hope common sense would take over though)
