whats involved at the dealers clearing out the dpf? is it same as the process in the handbook?

Not 100% sure, however I think it's along the lines of they connect it up to a machine which forces more fuel through and hence higher temperatures, and then just leave it running - it's called manual re-generation. They don't do it as a matter of course, only if your car fails to regenerate on its own through normal driving.

How's this for you? Taken at the end of my trip to work the other morning, 25 miles of which approx 4 are road (40/50mpg limit) and the rest motorway. Motorway done in cruise control at 70. Notice the mileage trip counter against the fuel gage - I reset the counter when I filled up last. Use Shell V-Power and no additives! :p:p

Had also zero'd trip meter when filled

I ran out of journey! Only 564 miles but 47.93mpg. Best mpg but not best mileage yet. Had a 573 before.

Cruising at 50 Nick?

Its quite interesting seeing what people get out of their cars in terms of mileage and mpg.

I have a 60 mile round trip to work and back, and can either take a cross country or motorway route. If clear, I can do the motorway route and return 54-56 mpg, where I would stick it on cruise at 70 on the open bits. If there is traffic though, like there is EVERY morning, then it has dropped to 45 as my anger cuts in lol. Cross country depnds if I get stuck behind some idiot...but anything from 50-58. But generally, if it hits the magic 50 mark, I'm happy.

I do find though, that on the motorway that if I edge the cruise to 75mph the mpg drop to about 49-50 mpg and if I up it to 80mph, it drops the mpg to 44-45. Big difference in mpg...but its so annoying travelling at 70 because I find myself constantly having to change lanes!!!

To be fair i done a lot of stop starting, 1 mile journeys, and my car hardly heated up!

It`s when i live at my g/f`s i`m only 1mile from work

I'm going to have to get my g/f to drive these short journeys

The most i`ve ever got though is about 420 miles to a tank!

V-power makes 'miles to go' increase

Put my 1st full (52L) of shell V-Power in the car on Saturday. I have used it before, but just perhaps 1/4 or 1/2 a tank. Put my usual dose of Millers in too.

Immediately after filling up the car said "400 miles" till empty tank. This would have been based as normal on the previous fuel consumption.

Since driving the same journeys with the same style the reading has been going UP almost in sync with my trip counter.

It now says 465 miles and that's after having drove about 60 miles since filling - mostly in town (20's, 30's, 40's) with four 6 mile dual carriageway journeys.

I can only put this down to the car needing to use less fuel to do the same thing as the normal shell diesel meaning the V-Power must be doing something good.

If its right then i should get 125miles more from the tank or 30%!
Well worth the extra £4.16, or 8%

Will feed back and see how much i get out overall.
