I agree that ngk are looking there edge, our mini started misfiring ( has ngk in), so we changed the plugs for new ngk plus the wouldn't start, so changed all ignition system still didn't work, took us 3 week to find that the new ngk plugs were also ****! So no on all our cars we don't touch ngk at all lol

I had a diesel mk1 leon and loved it but the new pd engines i cannot stand they are tuned sooo badly, I have not tried a remapped one but I work with Jag Diesels all day and they are just on another level of greatness. I like linear power accross the rev range and that was the biggest selling point of the boca for me.

Only diesels i would consider are bmw, lexus or jags tbh

After the remap and FMIC were fitted it was a totally different car. I would have to agree about the standard mapping, its piss poor!! Afterwards there were hardly any noticable flat spots and it pulled like a train :D got the PD130 to about 300lbs/ft torque if I remember rightly which was more than enough. Clutch handled it fine too, only slipped once briefly under heavy load but that was it.

Not totally qualified to comment about tuning the 1.6TDI unit as my car has a 2.0TDI engine! lol ;)

There does seem to be a problem with remapping the 1.6 diesel engine due to problems breaking the ECU encryption. You can get a tuning box but I seem to remember you don't like those... The box claims to give the 1.6TDi around 130BHP, so the same power as a standard MK4 FR TDI... The 2.0TDI in my FR is able to be remapped and it seems relatively easy to get another 40BHP without trying too hard... Some folk have gone a good bit higher with the power... I'm sure I saw someone out there with 197BHP though can't remember if it was posted on this forum or not... DUH! LOL Think that car had the DPF delete done on it too...

The Leon FR is a nice car too, mind you. :)

Ah right ok sorry mate lol and no I don't believe in tuning boxes. I had a guy argue blind with me once that his tuning box in his Fabia VRS would give it as much power as my remapped beeth.... funny enough he wouldn't put his money where his mouth was

tuning boxes lie to the engine which is never good at all. My 110 tdi leon was nice, i just hate the mk2 leon the pedals wonky and it isn't as enjoyable to drive at all.
