I have recently gone from a mk8 golf to a mk4 leon due to my golf being plagued with software issues. 2 weeks into ownership of my leon the gremlins are now starting with the leon.

Car changes its own settings, sos system goes red, random faults are thrown up almost daily and then just go.

Does anyone else or has anyone else had any issues as seat deny the lot.

I only had a review MK4 for 2 weeks and I didn't see any of these issues you mention, I did have an issue when the sensor was covered in mud etc that the front assist system stopped for a bit but maybe that was like you and just popped up then wen't after a stop and start.

I've also had that but checked and my sensors were clean and dry. Mine says, airbag faults, front crash fault, sos system light goes red, globe on inforainment system goes grey so its not connected, setting of car change themselves and drive mode changes on its own accord. Its a nightmare.

Maybe getting your car scanned with an OBD device will bring up some errors that pop up but go away again (might not show anything though if it's just software stuff). Does it happen daily? If so could you set up a camera to record your screen etc for later reviewing with SEAT?

A scan shows nothing as it did with my mk8 golf. Everytime it does it I take a picture of it as uploaded to the thread. I think vw brand has got some Deffo issues. It now happens pretty much everyday now,the dealership don't even seem bothered and seat customer service deny anything where as vw accept there are issues. A leon is in essence a golf with the same software even though at point of sale with leon they told me they run on different software.

Seriously?

I realise it's a brand new car so all should be ok, but have you checked the battery voltage? Gremlins like this can often be traced back to battery issues.

I often get "changing your vehicle settings" and some other random faults, but not the sos one so far...
But, apart from the SW issues I love my new Seat Leon.

What have seat said to you?

So far I have only reported that the keyless access does not work. They said that it is a known SW fault that will be corrected in a later version.
Now when car manufacturers are more into SW developing I think they need introduce a fault report system for us users. A system where we also could search for known faults and see the status.

It feels like the control unit talked about in this thread

It's not really surprising that if Golf 8s have issues they comes across to Leon 4s. I noticed the Spanish board was talking about beta testing now being carried out by users... e.g. they were shipping cars before the bugs were sorted.

As Jim said above an OBD scan would be useful. It needs someone with an eye for detail on Leon 4s and users to draw up a spread sheet of models, build week, hardware of the component parts as per the scan and the software it's running under in the unit. If Seat can't do that then the user base can. You would expect dealers to be on top of it but perhaps they arent. Keep a tally of that would show odd ones out.

The link alludes to a control unit not taking updates and needing changing. Could be the pandemic why things aren't as they should be.

Had the 130FR manual since Mid December as my MK3 was stolen.. I replaced it at short notice.. Big mistake :(
I am also considering my legal position to reject the car although 6 weeks in maybe too late but I did report many problems in week1/2/3 etc.. let's see..

My new one is riddled with software issues:
Random emergency messages that don't stay long enough to read them
break assist comes on for no reason.
faulty aircon (this one is the deal breaker)
phone connectivity works sometimes not others
heating hot and cold button don't illuminate ( a common thread)
some software menus off screen.
some menus enabled for features that don,t exist (wrap around lighting)
loss of volume and phone control when engine stops.
lane assist a pain in the ar** and sometimes dangerous.
software boot time.

The car drives well but the software nonsense is trying to solve a problem that was never there..

Only issue I had with the press car was the fact you would be on the motorway at 70mph middle lane on cruise control approaching a wagon onside lane doing 54 and all of a sudden it would anchor on for no reason.

RHD or LHD ?. Understandable if it was LHD since they have that feature that stops you undertaking.

Could have been TSR reading the speed sign on the back of the lorry. I've had that in France but not on UK roads. Get the audible bong sound for speed and look around and see a lorry with a speed sign on it. But then I don't use ACC so didn't brake. Luddite as I am to automated driving.
