Should be able to pick up a 130 for that!

I would definetly go diesel for the miles you will be doing.

How you getting on with your beast then Chris?

Thought so, an early petrol cupra is within my budget, along with diesel golfs, boras etc. really want a VAG and not a Vec/Mondeo though.

Ive got a leon cupra its mapped exhaust the list goes on for a bit i do 76 miles a day i use around £40 worth of petrol all 70ish driving so i think they aint to bad:)

£40 of petrol per week doing 76 miles per day is not that bad.
I spend £25-£30 per week doing 50 miles per day in my 1400c rover. I really think i want a cupra now!

do it, you wont regret it! if you do mostly motorway driving and you're not too heavy footed you will get decent mpg out of the cupra anyway. Diesels are great for mpg and tax but cost alot more to buy in the first place for a decent low mileage example.

also, you were silly to ask people on here to talk you out of it, we all love our cars and like welcoming new members! :)

maybe thats why i asked ;) i got the reply i wanted to hear in the end. i just needed to convince myself!

Better start working on the girlfriend now,

she will love it mate, my missus loves my lcr (even though shes not allowed to drive it) but she doesnt love it when i boot it (scaredy cat)! :)

agreed, but every time she hears the turbo spool up she'll be counting the nappy's we could have bought with the petrol money.

I work hard........... i deserve it, (or so i keep telling myself).

ah well thats where you can explain to her that technically the car is more efficient when running on the turbo so you're actually SAVING money by booting it! :)

she doesnt know much about mechanics does she? ;)

Do it ..... and tell her that a more powerful engine works more efficiently than a less powerful one so in actuality you will be saving money... ;)

Also, seen as how I spent the same on childcare in the first 5 years as I could have spent on a TVR... if you don't do it while you can you will always regret it....

at this point I feel your convinced enough of the leon so im going to go ahead and recommend getting an R! :) better brakes, suspension, turbo and a nice red trim interior!

in the words of mrs doyle...."go oooonnn, go on go on go on go on"

You guys are terrible, i only signed up to get some info on a leon and i've already gone from a diesel to a cupra to a cupra R in the space of a day.

I think the R is right out of my league to be honest.

I'm going to be cutting it tight with the cupra. if i do get one then theres always the option to chip it later for more oooomph.

thanks for the advice!

Which one? Golf, Leon, Bora, Tol?

go with the leon,

toledo is ok too, but its down to your opinion on looks,

golf is heavy and feels like a barge to drive,

not driven a bora but i bet its the same as the golf,

leon tdi if i were you , good build quality, and looks sportier.

Leons make you make attractive to members of the opposite sex. And sometimes the same sex.

Proven scientific fact.

Honest.
