Hi there

I have a seat cupra and it makes when cold a very small squeak on starting it, and also when pulling away... i took it to seat and the head technician said it was the timing belt and tensioner.... its been doing the same thing for a few months now without any decline... Once the car is warm, it doesnt really ever happen...

Apparently its a common problem now with alot of the MK2 Leons????

He said, its not worth having changed as it may in time do it again with a new belt and tensioner

Anyone else had this problem?.. he turned me away so i can't believe he was making it up!...

hmm i have an issue with mine but it isnt a squeak...more like a whiring noise.....put it down to the secondary air pump (only happens when really cold)

yeah this is deffo a squeak, lasts not even a second, and then does it when i pull away at low revs for the first few times... once warm... its fine!.... very strange!!

Yep I have the same with my LCR although only when it starts 1st thing and its just the cam belt tensioning itself. Would only worry if it get worse tbh.

Yeah thats what Seat said too, just a strange thing to happen, especially if its happening alot to the new leons....
