i hear lots of talk about a short shifter, what are these, how much and what do they do, appreciate any comback. Cheers also how are they fitted

fit on top of the gearbox (99% of cases)
range from 80-200 quid
reduce the distance the gear lever moves between 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th, 5th-6th
can also get parts which reduces the amount you move across the box

Dead easy to fit, as it says above, check out Pabs' guide. Mine took about 4 minutes!

Ok really stupid question, is there one available for a 1.8 20v non turbo.

it depends on the gearbox, not engine iirc
6 speed gearbox's

i would fit it yourself. i'm thechnically inept and i managed mine with the right tools. get a bearing puller prior to fitting incase the original part won't come off. if it comes off without the bearing puller then just take it back for a refund. I used the guide from the EIP website.

short shift is a superb mod IMO. good value too if you go for the forge or PSI tuning one.
