had alot of problems with steering and handling recently, hit a patch in the

road that they were fixing and ever since the car feels very jumpy or twitchy at

speed dunno how to explain it. anyway i got the wheels balanced before this

after it happened i got the tracking done again and it seems to have helped a

bit also the steering wheel when driving straight...... well it isn't straight its not

off by much but what is causing this?and would it be worth taking the

balancing weights off?

thanks for help in advance

My steering wheel never sits straight either, new front tyres, wheel balanced/tracked and the steering wheel doesn't sit straight its only just off, car drives straight so never bothered me.

Probably could get sorted when i get my front wheels re-tracked and ask them to make sure the steering wheel is dead straight.

If its still doing it when the trackings been done then id be thinking about something being bent down there. Sounds like it could be the steering rack bent if it gets better once trackings done.

status subject to change
sadly it could be a number of things.
could be when they did the tracking the wheel was not 100% central. (or they adjusted one side rather than both).
could be they didnt take out the slack when doing the adjustment if it was out by alot.
coule be tyre pressures or uneven wear.
could be worn bushes
could be worn ball joint
could be wheel bearing
could be the road isnt level. (when driving on the left is the steering wheel slightly to the right?) roads are usually cambered.
could be any number of parts have been damaged / bent.

If a part such as ball joint or bush is worn the tracking may be spot on when the car is at a standstill and no force is applied to the worn bush etc. when moving this may lead to the part moving.

Does the amount of steering input required to keep car straight change between accellerating, slowing, braking or at a steady speed? what about when in neutral. (do this on a flat LEVEL piece of tarmac.
