Hi guys, as we all know the plastics and the overall quality of the interior of these cars is utter crap. After 115.000 km [71000 miles] the steering wheel is badly worn and the other day I noticed that the leather [is it real leather??] is detaching from behind too,,,

So, assuming I can get the wheel re-trimmed for a reasonable price, I was searching for some suggestions on how to get it done, I was thinking of red stitches, don't know where I've seen them but I guess they would look cool,,,

I'd like your ideas with pics. Say you like a particular car's steering wheel, please post a pic of that and let me see.

Thx.

blackie I don't know about prices since I'm in italy and I guess they're quite different to the uk,,, will let you know anyway.

I thought of something like this with red stiches but on black leather with nappa inserts [would be cool in grey??] at the 9:15 position.

I was after suggestions tho!!

i think your all too heavy handed with your steering wheels.lol. Any quality trim shop should be able to tackle the job just depends how much you want to pay.

If your not too bothered about the airbag then a new wheel and boss maybe a cheaper option?

well I actually think that an airbag could always come useful one day,,,

Do you think an aftermarket steering wheel [it makes it so early 90's for me,,,] would be cheaper?? I thought the re-trim could cost about 100 euros,,, will have to ask anyway,,,

anyway, once again, the object of this thread was getting pics for ideas,,,

no it wont fit, very different, i wanted to fit an R32 wheel which is probably the same fitment and was told the same

i think the leather steering wheel is abit old hat and cheap tat nowadays, it used to be a premium sort of fitting but seems to come on any old basic models now.

what i'd like (although not sure it would match the half leather and cloth seats) is like an alacantra finish. if you dont know what it is (i had it on my 206 GTi 180 seats in my previous car) its like a very smooth and soft suede

this is sort of what it would resemble, although im not sure that this M3 csl is the same stuff, could be velour or something, not sure

yeah thats the rabbit

i wondered how much grip it actually provides, wouldnt like to lose hold of the steering wheel mid way through a corner! but since its used on the CSL and not on the regular m3 i can only assume it offers more grip??

What colour is your car? Have you got red/blue/grey seats, could colour coded some of it to the seats? Just an idead dunno how it would look like. How about having it black leather again but with red sticking or watever colour your seats are. Get the steering wheel and gear gator done.

yeah that would be cool,,, my seats are the sport version,,, no leather, only cloth, black sides [like the leather version] and grey at the center,,, but those too are wearing out,,, so maybe one day I'll retrim those too [or sell the car before probably,,,]

I was thinking as said of black leather with red stiches and grey inserts at 9.15 o clock position,,, what do you think?
