Guys - what should I do:shrug: - the Cupra R i`m getting is black and the front bumper is all stone chipped - tried to haggle with the dealer to get some money off the car with regards to getting the bumper resprayed, but, he wouldn`t budge due to the car being keenly priced. Now, waiting to get the car, i`ve had time to think about it and thinking that I shouldnt really have to do any paintwork repairs to an 04 plate car. I think I got carried away with excitement at the time and put down a deposit, now its bugging me. Should I reject the car now and look elsewhere or still go for it?. Car is minted otherwise. Any advice appreciated.:)

My cars in the same sort of shape. Again mines an 04 plate and ebony black and is peppered with chips as most of its life its done motorway miles. The only thing to properly rectify it is to get it sprayed. You can help soften the chips like I have with some t-cut type stuff and lots of elbow grease or on the slight ones get it wet sanded down then polished. Alternatively you could find someone with a polisher and try and cut the worst of them out.

Your not going to find an LCR without stone chips buddy even more so with a black car.

The paint work is absoloute utter garbage

mine is the same....really soft paint. Had it repainted last year and its back to the same again. Doing trackdays certainly doesnt help mine but a car is there to be used. I wanted a black lcr but knew it would be a nightmare for stone chips.

If it's otherwise mint, it's not worth rejecting it for the sake of a few hundred quid it will cost to get it resprayed. If you never found one as good you would be kicking yourself.

Mines black and covered too and its on a 55 plate. I'd take the advice above and get it if you're happy with the rest of the car.

mine too! nothing you can do about it apart from respray. But if the car is mint apart from stone chips then go for it

I'd say go for it and don't worry too much, you could ask him to throw in a touch up pen so you can fill in the larger chips to stop the bonnet/wings from rusting.

As everyones said it's a common thing all LCR's that I've seen including my own have lots of stone chips.

not only do i have hundreds of stonechips across the bonnet (and windscreen too - its like dot-to-dot :censored: ) I also have several dents where a stone has bounced off the wings of the car, and one right in the middle of the bonnet.

I'm saving for entire front-end fill, respray and sort.... just really REALLY want someone who'd do a good job, and locally so i can see some other of their work, and have somewhere to go if i have problems.

 The paintwork is really soft compared to other vehicles I've owned and Black is unfortunatly the hardest to hide them on, but I used Swissol on mine from day one to 'try' and create some form of barrier....

Granted the larger buggers are always going to hurt, but at least I've tried to stop some  of the crap scarring???? Next stop 3m film!?!

Give Swissol Tony a call (numbers on the swissol dealers website) alot of the guys on here use the stuff, must admit I swear by it! (especialy on black)

 Ben.

well u know mine managed to roll down the drive and mash the front bumper? i got mine done, for 140 at a proper accident repair centre as i know the owner ;)

but u can get a bumper dun for way less than 300. u can get the bonnet and bumper with wings blended for 400! ;)
