Subaru Style rally mud flaps

Hi there

I do alot of country road driving, and a few weeks back only washed my car once in two weeks (usually wash it every week)

The back was completely covered so im looking into buying some subaru style mud flaps to try to reduce some of the dirt flicked (sucked) back up onto the rear of the car.

Anyone seen any for sale anywhere?

you can get them from Demon Tweeks some sparco ones that are universal, you just cut them down to fit!

In all honesty, I wouldnt, as they look horrable. Id get some of the genuine seat ones. They may cost a bit more, but they do look better.

I've got plain black rally style mud flaps on my cupra. personally think they look good on the black car because they are slightly less noticable. the outside of the flap is aligned to outside of the tyre and the inside is a couple of inches further in the arch than the inside of the tyre.

i'll try and get a picture posted. i searched on ebay and found a place near my home that sold them for £8 a pair. really wish i had done the fronts too as it might have helped the stone chips on the protruding rear alloys.

And, from experience of having a full set of Seat flaps, they make bugger all difference to the amount of crud that collects on the back!

the back of the car does get ludicrously dirty in such a small space of time!

yea i know danny, i had a saxo and the back never got dirt on it lol, but my seat gets caked

the sides and front never seem to cack up that much, but the tailgate is ridiculous!

blame the shape of the car, fitting mudflaps won't do much at all.

I'm thinking about trying some diffuser flaps on the back of the Ibiza to test that theory out.... something to disrupt the airflow, rather than creating a nice big vortex behind the car

I have Seat front mudflaps, but as mentioned above they dont make rear mudflaps for the Fr/cupra. And the front mudflaps are tiny!

The size of standard rear mudflaps on the pre facelift model are pretty useless for anything more than a small drop of water anyway, thats why I might opt for some full length ones as phil arosa seems to have.

The design of the car does mean the back creates a vacuum therefore "sucking" spray onto it, so my plan was to reduce the spray, hence reduce the amount of dirt being "sucked" onto the rear.

Here are a few quick snaps. Excuse the filth - car cleaning is being sacrificed for exams. I put the flaps on shortly after buying the car so I can't offer a decent basis for comparison, but I have to say the bottom corners of the rear bumper are always kept pretty clean from dirt.

They look better when the cars and the flaps are clean! Do a search on ebay for them. I got them from a place called M&A Services in Aylesford, Kent. £7 a pair, easy to cut into shape, hardest part is making sure they're evenly lined up.
