Supercharged Mk2 Ibiza - pictures from holland 14/7/09

I haven't got as far as buying the charger yet. The ECU and the charger (the expensive bits!) are still on my 'to purchase' list!

I was bidding on that was supposedly an M62 from a CLK 230, but I'll double check that it is the right one!

surely a ECU that comes in kit form that you put together yourself or even just an ECU already together is cheaper than the charger??? Id love to charge mine but its only the 8v so duno what figures id get from the 115bhp engine, plus funds wouldnt allow!!!!!!!!

i'm using megasquirt

the kit is £125, assembled by eddy is £250, installed with new loom is £350 and aith as many remaps as is needed is £450 (which means he'll go over it again and again and again until its the best it can be)

my charger was £150 posted

wow im shocked!! So what engine are you supercharging??? What results would you expect to see?? How much do you reckon it will cost all in?? So is the ECU £450 with everything or was it £125 + £250 + £350 + £450??

When you consider you're getting a customised map for a completely non standard car for £450 and its £500 or so for a generic revo map it doesnt sound bad at all!

I too am hoping for 100bhp gains.

And a mate of mine has just become a Wizards of Nos dealer... So that's something I'm contemplating too

The key is that the Eaton on the Mini isn't an M45 more like an M35, this Eaton flows upto 200ish the 'WORKS' Eaton flows more air because the screw angles are different which also helps keep the air temps down which = more power. The aim is to see 210 hp and 180 lbft which isn't bad from a 1.8 130hp 16V engine. The Merc Eaton isn't a M62 again its more like a M45 and can flow upto 260 if pushed. Hope this clears things up guys.

The only limiting factor with megasquirt is the peramiters. Having circa 100 when dta, emerald etc have 250+. Its hard to get it perfect. Or so im told.

In the end a ecu is only as good as the map that's in it, I've got a few friends running mk2 20vt's on emerald and M/S and you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference.

PS checkout the date I joined and only 6 posts LOL:doh:

MS has more table entry fields than the OE ECU, and more than many more recent ECU's for that matter

how good the map is will be dependant on the person 'doing' it - and many so called professionals won't 'custom' map anything.

My base map is an average of everyone elses 2.0 16v map whacked through a spreadsheet to irradicate any sillies. which is far more work than a spanner jockey will do

Hiya.
The Eaton Supercharger on the 1.8 ADL, spun at the derised rpm to produce the aircharge for target torque developemt, will not produce 240bhp peak or "100" bhp more than STD. We should not be focusing on BHP figures as they are not a mesurement of drivability. I expect than on this mission the car to produce upto 175-180lbft of torque (VR6 torque held for longer) from 4000rpm to 5700rpm (ABF inlet cam) and 70% of this availabe from 2500rpm and 80% available at where the VEs of the engine starts to drop off. If on ADL inlet cam this would be around 6200rpm on a ABF inlet this is near 6700rpm.
As Chris has drivien in N7NDOs MS ABF'd MK2 he should expect a much more flexable drive than this already optimised car which has a n/a torque range (85% and greater) of 3000-6100rpm.
MS PCM is a DIY ECU and can be had from Glen's Garage or DIYAuto as a kit of components. Included with the order is a RS autosport 10 ft labelled loom which has to be integrated to your vehicles electrical system and to the engine.
In addition to purchasing the BOM, you have to pay for shipping and customs chagres and parcel force fees. You can then choose to assemble and test yourself or someone like myself can build/simulate plus modify to run on a Hall sensor dizzy or your cranksensor (ABF/ 20vT engines) and use in wasted spark. The complete ecu is ready to be installed.
MS is as good as the person mapping it just as it is with DTA, Emerald, Apex-i Power FC, Bosch ME7 etc. Unlike the above this ecu and its developent can be followed by anyone if he/she logs on to www.msefi.com.
This is ecu is very basic in its strategy and set-up especially when one compares it to some of the Bosch MED17 systems I happen to work with daily. But it does allow sufficent access to your engines control parameters to allow for adding forced induction ITBs or any ohter hardware mods to achieve more USER Desired performance for a fraction of the price of more expensive PCMs on the market.

I and others have documented various builds like these during the years and you can see these on ED38 or CGTi. So its no secret.
Anyone can do this if you got the skills.

Hopes this clears up any confusion from this exercise.
