Saw this white one running at donny it sounded great gave me lots of things to think about on the way home and roliech i did see your car got a pic of it somewhere 2.
I only reduced boost to trial the system. I plan on smaller pulley and bigger injectors, etc soon.
And i thought the same 3 psi is nothing BUT . . .the Vw specialist i used still guestimates ive gained 20-30 bhp from conversion based on other cars he has seen with same engine mods before i charged it. Persoanlly the difference in the car was imence too!
The eaton 45 chargers can run max 14,000ish RPM, so charger pulley to crank pulley radio must be 2:1 so at 7,000rpm the charger is not over reving its self to bits. This is similar to radio on a mini cooper S, and they make approx 7psi std if im not mistaken. From my experiments i cant see how people can expect to run more than 7psi without over working charger to death . . . However, until i get her running on std smaller pulley again and observing boost guage in car i wont know. People put smaller pulley's on the chargers but doing the maths on charger max RPM this doesn't make sence?
Correct me if im wrong . . .
ste4232.......Are you from Burton way by any chance? My mate used to harp on about your ibiza.
Chris your going to have to do a big parts list when its finished![]()
The standard Cooper S tends to run about 10-12 PSi, Mine runs 18psi. The supercharger is one of the most reliable elements of the car. In fact i have never heard of a supercharger going wrong on a Mini yet,
The other thing is the belt would slip before the charger got overworked, thats why most limit the pulley reduction to -17%, anymore and slippage is a major problem
close mate, Burntwood / cannock / lichfield is my local area. Ive been round burton a few times in her though so bound to have been spotted!
has your car got streetrace written down the side of it by any chance??
Yes mate, used to have. Now its a bare shell. But i wore the full streetrace graphics for ages!

is that how your lowering the compression ? 2 head gaskets ?
20vt conversion doesnt look so bad after all - cost soon builds up i guess

Yeah but to get a 150bhp 1.8t lump running plus 200bhp will cost you a few pennies to do it properly. Remap, FMIC, Hoses, Filter, Exhaust, odds and sods etc. They all add up.
installed a 210 leon lump in a 16v corrado about 6 months ago all in it cost the guy £1200 in bits but there was a bonus as the leon ecu had been revo'd previously but couldnt tell ya what bhp it was in the end
tell a lie - once he'd sold all the original bits he reckoned it cost him £700
dont get me wrong it can be done cheap or expensive its all a case of time/money/skill at the end of the day and having seen a turbo'd 16v in a mk1 golf its got a hell of a potential too - just seems to be getting a bit steep considering other options
considered doing mine while it was off the road but the charger i want is £1200 on its own even when i make all the parts myself
if you do it like ste4232 has its cheaper than a remapeven with standard motor - and we all know what its like to get 200bhp out of a 16v the normal way £££
