Hi Tom, just a quick one...did you fit your 3" TIP by yourself?

If so, was it an easy job?

Hi Jason,
AmD fitted mine when I was down there as it turned up the day before, so it was convenient!

They said the adaptor plate to the turbo was a very tight fit and you think it won't go in but it will..

I had my Forge tip out before that was simple enough. The main difference is the adaptor and using sealant on it or loctite think Coops said. Once your past that it's just another TIP but bigger!

Notice any difference from the new filter Tom ?

Much better without the badges ;)

Its pretty easy mate. Once you get the Forge tip off its just a case of getting the adaptor on the turbo and doing up the grub screws (not hard, just rotate it to a position where you can reach both). Then fiddle the pipes so they fit right and finally tighten everything up and its job done. 1h30m job :)

Bigger Jetex seems a bit better mate, but very similar in noise/performance to what I had before so the difference is probably marginal. Such a tight fit with the alloy joiner finding room in the heatshield haha.

Cheers bud, it's all about debadge now I think! Raining today though so can't get the other 2 off. Although I might leave them but just replace the perished 'R' with a new one yet.

Ah I thought I read in your RR about needing to rotate it so you can do up both screws..!

Nice to know incase I need to take it off at any point :) Sure is a beast though the 3" TIP!

Problematic fan video..

Right can someone have a look at this video I got yesterday of my fans cutting in after a run in the car... You can see only one is working but on very high speed. They cut in and the temp creeps over 90 a bit, this happens quite often when in traffic or just creeping along. The car hates traffic!

http://s24.photobucket.com/albums/c19/tomdavies/?action=view&current=JensSLRPicts080.mp4

Does my video show a fan is completely broken or that I can fix it with that resistor fix which has been posted before? I just wanted to show you guys what is actually happening.

Any feedback appreciated.

Minor update

Got a couple of quick pics of how the back and sides of the car stand at the moment, after being debadged, what do you think?

The remaining 'R' badge is looking tired on the boot so I am looking for a straight replacement at some point this week to freshen it up.

I'm also thinking about taking off the C3 ariel and putting the OEM one back on.. Did anyone else find the radio reception even worse with the stubby one? Thoughts welcome..

Mine does the same mate, my old lcr never did it, but this one does, i think its down to my FMIC as once the fan sucks air through its fine again, im actually happy the fan is cutting in doing its job. It does it in traffic too but once on the move its sound.

Interesting mate. Not sure about the fmic theory to be honest. Most on here believe it's a resistor issue in the fans, or possibly the control unit. AmD told me it shouldn't be doing this, but it'd be worth replacing part by part rather than the whole chunk. Mine is also fine once it's on the move.

I'm still debating what to do, but for me it is cutting in far too often mate. And in this weather even when I've not been 'on-turbo' barely at all, it's still doing it. I'm not sure why there would be so much heat if the car has barely warmed up itself.

I will get it sorted one day though, and definitely write back up here what it was.

Liking the back de-badged mate, will be doing mine soon

Thanks mate. Looks alot smoother to me. I was unsure at 1st and a bit like 'Oh what have I done!!?' as I removed the L E O N badging, but once off and looking at it from over the road I'm really happy with it.

Looks nice mate without the r's on the side. Might do mine as well ;) Although I don't think I could do the cupra r badge on the boot too. Gotta leave some identity on it in my opinion.

Cheers Tom :)

The sides look much better without the R's for sure. Like you say for identity, I'm leaving the remaining small CUPRA and the last R, but just replacing the R as it's seen better days.

Nice to get the small bits done. And badges are cheap to do!

I must say when I saw you were doing the side ones I frowned and thought it would look sh!t. Now I've seen pictures it looks really good - makes the car look more slick! Plus my badges have seen better days so may as well just get rid!

Haha! I was doubting removing any badges mate. I guess it's that fear of 'ruining what you already have' - but I'm glad to report it looks much better for the badges removed.

I think with the overall shape of the car being smooth and quite slick, it really adds to it by ditching the one's especially on the side. Removing the L E O N has made it so much less cluttered on the tailgate. I'd say do it mate. Even if you take them off and don't like it, you can easily put them back on. But if it was me I'd definitely leave them off now :)

Back looks mint, I changed back OEM aerial mate reception was shocking

Cheers matey :)

Yeah I think that's my mind made up now.. The C3 stubby one will be coming off. I'll give the oem one a chance again. I just hope I like the look of it as much as the stubby.

Back ends looking great mate.

I had a stubby aerial on mine for about a week then took it of as the reception was terrible. I dont mind the OEM one.

Got to love a working aerial!

Sometimes style over substance doesn't work

Totally with you mate. Can't believe the difference, it's night and day. Had it on Capital radio to test, Rihanna feat Drake - 'What's My Name?' with it's monster beat came on and it was crystal clear. Sounded awesome..

Shame as the stubby aerial looked quite smart. But I'm not fussed having OEM on there either tbh looking at it now. :)
