Hi

I'm trying hook up the tacho on my 1991 MK2 Golf to my recently converted Seat Ibiza (1998) ABF lump. All the other instruments work on my clocks after plugging the bulk of the loom into my fusebox apart from the rev counter  which seems to be a common problem in this conversion.

What I need to know is: I think the signal wire from the coil pack is a green/red wire (other two are Black + Brown) which goes to the ECU. There must be a wire that goes from the ECU to the ibiza fusebox/Tacho? What Colour is it?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

as far as i could remember the tacho sensor goes into the gearbox, make sure its seated right, the plastic casing on it is crap and mine came out twice.

Is that not just for the speed sensor? I have swapped this for a cable to fit my clocks!

The Ibiza wire changes colour at the bulkhead. I think it is green and white for half of it, dunno which half.

Had the same prob with my beeza vr6 conversion. You can come straight off your coil.

Yes I had thought about doing that but doesn't the ECU need the feed? Could I just tap into it and run it to my tacho?

Thanks for the help by the way....

I'm having a similar pro with my 16vT conversion on my passat. I'm running megasquirt bit cant get the rev counter to work. I was sure it was the middle wire (green) on the coil and i attached it to a standalone rev counter and it still wont work!!

I think I have read somewhere that the signal differs as some people were having problems with their Emerald's...

I'll give mine a go in a bit and let you know the outcome!
