Hmmmm....this is becoming a bit of a concern. The pictures being posted (and now having looked very closely at the pics of the spoiler on Seat's web site and of contributors to this thread) do not appear to add up. The part numbers are correct for a Seat CR rear spoiler but the picture does not look the same. Something amiss here!

Going to message the seller and may withdraw my bid... I really want the genuine SEAT rear spoiler intended for my car...

Its a weird one alright  feel bad for posting the link now, I was going on the part number and the RRP of the spoiler from a stealer

No worries, Gaz. :) You were genuinely trying to help me out and I appreciate that.

If it's any consolation I did go on Seat's web site to check the part number and checked that it matched the eBay description and only had a quick glance at the picture and it appeared OK. As you say the prices matched the description too... I was late to pick up my partner so was more concerned with placing a bid and getting out of the door fast.

In any case I have a genuine reason for cancelling the bid if I choose to do so, so I won't be losing any cash! :)

I also checked the part number against the seat accessories site prior to posting the link, the photo looked fine at a glance. Dunno what the hell's going on

Ok got a reply from the seller and he has posted some more pics of the rear spoiler. To me this seems like the genuine article now - curves in all the right places! lol

What you you folk think? Comments appreciated. :)

The three pictures don't match.

First pic has the cutout with rounded inner corners and there is no crease line on the top

The next two pics are correct for the mk5 spoiler with the square edge corners in the cutout and the crease in the top.

Yeah I'm way ahead of you on that one! lol Have emailed the seller asking if the first pic was a mistake as it doesn't appear to match the following two. He is selling a few bits of car in other auctions so it is possible he posted the wrong pic originally. Still not totally convinced though!

Have you asked David at SERE motors for a price of a BNIB one delivered ?

His prices are pretty fair and It will let you know how far to bid with this one.

Edit - just looked on the SERE motors thread - £95 delivered - see here - http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showpost.php?p=3623193&postcount=2

Not worth bidding too much more on ebay - its £62 + £15 now ( £77 )

Yes I did notice that SERE were selling for £95 so my bid on Bay will reflect this. I'm not bidding much higher and may still withdraw from the auction, though this is less likely at the moment.

The seller in his reply said the spoiler came from a Seat main dealer and the part number is moulded into the spoiler where it joins to the car. If you notice the time stamp on the new photos, they appear to have been snapped this morning.

Well surely nothing else other then a genuine article will have the part no. stamped on it. A replica wouldn't have that. Wonder can he produce a receipt from Seat for the spoiler, you'd be flying then. Mind you if the auction is up to £70+ I would stop bidding before £90 and just go for one from SERE

If you include the postage he wants to charge ( £15 ) the spoiler is £77 already.

SERE motors are charging £95 Delivered.

There will be more bids and I would want far more than just £10 saving for not using the dealer.

Will be interesting to see how high the bidding goes from those who do not come on the forum.

Virtually at my bid ceiling at present (just a couple of quid leftto go) so if I can get it for £80 delivered that's reasonable (but not exceptional). That's assuming that I get a decent explanation for the photo differences.... I have also asked the seller to agree to a refund if the item isn't the genuine article for my car. Could still be bid retraction for me!

Alright, next thrilling instalment of the dodgy rear spoiler story!

Have received a reply to my email asking why the difference between the original auction pic and the 2 follow-up photos he posted this morning. Turns out that the guy mistakenly posted a pic of a Leon spoiler, but he assures me that the part number listed in the auction is correct, as are the 2 new pictures.

Sounds plausible....

Will wait and see how the auction progresses but will not increasing my ceiling bid, will go to SERIE and buy from there if the total price goes beyond £80.
