If this fails you need someone with vag com to re-sync the ecu to the clocks, but why they became un-synced in the first place is beyond me.

How would it have worked before though? I know that they are a different set, as the last set failed for some reason

AFAIK, the original unit failed, so it was replaced with the unit currently in now. This current unit has worked since i bought the car, but hasn't since i took the dials out. But i can't get over the fact that i can't lock and unlock manually. How can i re-code the key if i can't do this?

I'm guessing i'm now gonna have another fault code for the immobiliser? What would happen if i deleted that code, would it start then?

Simple case of recoding the key via the handbook way?

Jimski

Jimboy, you are talking about resyncing the remote central locking - thats separate to the transponder which communicates with the immobiliser, so wont help him at all!!

I'm in coltishall, norwich. Well short on funds too, and i doubt anyone is gonna come help me for free :(

Only one way to find out, post up in the vag com requests section.

Are there any other functions on the car which dont work now? As I said above, the locking of the car and starting of the car are 2 completely separate functions and for convenience are located in the same unit, the key - the key is just a useful way of making things harder for bad guys as nowadays its the RCL and transponder which do all the work. Wonder if you've tripped any fuses? try checking other electrical functions and then have a quick look through the fuses on the side of the dash. Although why this would let the immob light flash but not let the engine start I dont know. I reckon its worth asking a dealer, the service desk are unlikely to know so ask to speak to the master tech if they cant suggest anything further than bringing it in.

You must have done something else to it in the process of taking it out - if not, the only thing I can think that would cause this is that the lack of power to the clocks erased the memory. How long did you have them out?
