Its alot easier to do using hammerite paint.

Use a wire brush (fairly decent one) and Brake cleaner and scrub the shyte out of the calipers and drums.

Make sure you get into all the places you wish to paint and clean them vigorously.

Allow two days for it altogether as prep takes about 1 and a half hours each corner.

Paint takes about 10mins to paint caliper but you need to re-coat 2-3 times but takes 4hours to be able to re-coat.

Very timetaking but very cheap. Think a tin was £7 from hellfrauds.

I just did it at the weekend, as mentioned just rub them down with a wire brush etc and paint with Hammerite. I brushed it on rather than sprayed, couldn't be arsed with overspray everywhere!

I got it done in a day, got them off (calipers) and gave them a first coat. Then left them in some rather fine Manchester sunshine for 4 hours, then refitted them. Then just gave them a second quick coat on the car. Put the wheels back on, left overnight and voila!

Make sure to invest in a set of axel stands first, using the widow maker standard jack will kill ya soon enough!

Prep first by using a wire brush and brake cleaner/pre-paint. Hammerite is best for the job as it's temperature resistant. Only available in red, black, yellow, gold, white, blue and silver I think....not sure though... Comes in paint or spray, whichever is easier for you.

Black for drums to hide the rustiness, and red on front would look awesome. Please don't do the drums in red/other colour apart from black....various people on SCN have done it and I've seen some in real life, and they look awful...

I've seen a fiesta driving around with red calipers and drums, they look really good imo.

i have a set of axel stands so thats sorted :)

was thinking of a really bright green or orange...something different than the standard blue, yellow & red but your saying do the rears in black?? not seen that just seen cars going around with all four corners the same colour.....guess like all painting its all about the prep work??

best stuff for the job though? sounds like hammerite?

You can buy caliper paint from Halfrauds, however I think it's quite thin. Hammerite is the best.

+1 Hammerite smooth finish is a winner! I only did one coat and seems fine, just wire brush the everything first to remove the loose rust/dirt.

Interior metal bits (vent rings and gear stick surround), are all available from a SEAT dealer for £10-20ish. Contact David at Sere Motors NI on SeatCupra.net in his section. They can supply goods at a reduced cost, and usually have free P&P or only a couple of quid.

To debadge, simply heat up a letter, 1 at a time, using a hairdryer. Once the glue is warmed, use dental floss under each letter to undo the adhesive backing. Once removed, use something like 'sticky stuff remover' or degreaser to get rid of the remaining glue. Once done, perhaps use a bit of polish to make sure all the residue is off the surface. You're looking at only spending 20minutes doing this. Awesome mod :)

cheers chris for answering the question ;)

& yeah i did the de-badging by using boiling hot water, dental floss, place it behind the letter and pull & then slap some autoglym tar remover and then finally polish it up with super resin polish :)

interior bits came from Sere Motors for me :) really cheap and such a simple yet effective mod

Yep I know it's expensive, but it's the only place where I've seen orange/blue, and Marksy wanted colours that aren't standard. Plus it seems he's made of money with the amount he's spent on his beeza :p

ok so fitted the new headlight bulbs in replacement of my OSRAM NIGHT BREAKER PLUS H4 - but the new 'H4 XENON HEADLIGHT BULBS BLUE TINT' and the result is.....they are crap.

Drove home tonight in the dark (to test them fully) and it was like driving with the side lights on, no blue tint in the light beam or anything?! not happy....made me realise how good the osram bulbs are. Shall be putting them back in tomorrow :)
