You're right, there isn't much point. Get yourself insured on the Abarth 500... they looked mint in the Race of Champions!
I don't know what to do tbh. My brothers at Uni at the moment, and leaves his car at home. Then during holidays and summer break he can use it. To me it seems a bit of a waste as it's just sitting there and depreciating...however I wouldn't be able to cope without a car in the 3-4 summer holiday!!

With the amount of money your need for uni get insured on the 500 then look again when you come back from uni
or keep your bezza now and SORN it while your away (bit of a Pisa about when your back and costs a bit)
Would be nice to gain no claims whilst at Uni. Could get mine insured for 1k miles a year, lowest possible amount of £. Could let my rents use it to stop it seizing up over time ad come back to 5-6 years no claims after Uni
