THE Mk4- BIG UPDATE PG2!!!!

As some may know, I now have a Mk4 Ibiza Sport TDi, which I'm planning on keeping for a fair few years (4-5 maybe), and is going to be one big project over that time!

I want to create a car which is good looking, fast, handle well but still be comfy enough to cruise around Europe.

There are big plans for the future, lots of power, getting the bodywork 100% mint, transforming the interior and making it handle like its on rails! Nothing will be left untouched and every detail will be looked at.

Anyway, I went down to Surrey on Weds (11/11/09) to pick it up, its a 03 model in Flash Red on 74k miles, totally standard.

So pics,

Then the modding began!
First up was de-badging and de-wipering the rear, also gave it its first proper clean and whacked the club stickers on the side too! So how she is at the moment

Nice one fella! Whiteline rear anti roll bar will sort the handling out a treat. Coilovers, strut braces.....it'll never handle amazingly as it's a derv and very heavy at the front end. The best mod I ever did to mine performance wise was the Seat Sport front mount intercooler! Makes even a standard car pull alot better!

nice car....and in the best colour too [B)]

what did you use / how did you de badge the back?

rear spacers will help improve handling ;)

Use a hot air gun or hair dryer and then use a filler spreader or something and just slide it behind the badge and pull it off. :) You might be left with glue on the car, if you are, you can either just pull it off or use a good degreaser and it should melt it off without damaging the paint. :)

As ash said, hair dryer and old credit style card, then took any left over glue off with thinners and a drop of T Cut, I had no fading at all behind the badges :)

The only thing about using thinners is, if you've had recent paintwork done it'll melt the paint off.

An update!!!

Ran the car at Cadwell Park on the 20th, ran fine all day and the boost pipes stayed on too (came off day before!)

Started on the audio install too, wanted a usable boot, so a false floor was on the cards, hiding the sub and 2 amps (one for sub, other for speakers). Also need to keep tools and spare wheel. A few pics up to how it is at the moment

Going to do more work on it tomorrow, hopefully get the power cables in and trim the new boot floor

thats a very tidy looking boot build, wanna do mine? :p so far all ive got is a piece of mdf cut to the shape of the boot and my amp and crossovers screwed onto it lol, cables everywhere! I haven't got a sub or amp for sub yet though so im in two minds wether to tidy up what i have, or wait til ive got a sub and amp and do it properly all in one go  yours looks excellent, and clever way to store the essential tools aswell.

Busy day for mine today, MOT in the morning which it passed with only 2 tyres and a rear disk as advisories (All stuff I know about anyway!) then in the afternoon went to a Rolling Road day at Monster Motorsport in Loughborough. It ran 145bhp and 270lb/ft, which was odd as everyone else ran lower than expected, although we think mine may have a rubbish map on it.

Heres the graph anyway! Pics and vids tomorrow

Few more of the install, which Im now rebuiling the box itself after a few had suggested about the size being far to big for the sub, which changes the layout a tad and gives more bootspace :)
