Thermostat - SOLVED! Now another one..

Hi guys...Seasons greetings to you all

Quick query in regards to a quote I have just received.

The thermostat on my cupra needs changing. I have picked up all the parts and given the car to my mechanic to change the bits over. Now, he has said that it is a lengthy job and would involve removing the inlet manifold?! Thus resulting in the price being just over £100

Does this sound right?! I know all prices from mechanics vary but just need a general idea of what type of work is involved.

Also, off topic - would et30 on the front, clear the standard calipers?

dont have to remove the manifold - it is a pain in the arse to get to but you can use one of those flexi type tools to remove it -

a tiny rachet will do i done mine last year it was a pain but you get there in the end wouldnt touch the manifold thats just creating more work an labour..

if i remember the part is about £15-£20. so £80 labour, doesnt seem right

took me 15 mins last time, and and included having a brew too

easy to do, shouldnt need intake manifold taking off at all!!

mate i would not pay any where near 100 for labour thats just mad are you not able to fit it your self or try a different garage and im sure even seat wont charge that much in labour..

It's kool! I got him down to nearly half that!

Used the "im a poor student" method

I now have another issue!

The damn AC keeps turning itself on! It's like it has a mind of itself and will randomly turn on whilst driving...it even done it when I changed the radio station

Any ideas?!?!

it will come on automatically.. when you start the car up, you will have to turn it on yourself, and then turn it off. this will stop it from coming randomly on when your driving.

mine does it now, even though i dont have the a/c pump in my car lol

When the car is stationary it will come on and the revs will start spluttering!

no not yet, they arrived yesterday so hopefully i can do it today at the office otherwise its gonna be a bloody cold night in the garage!
