I suppose it is possible that only post are made when things go wrong. Sur there could have been 1000 1.6tdi's sold since they came to Briton and these 5 or so are the only ones!!

Yes I agree with that, I thought that the 1.6 petrol engine was "an old dog" so well tried and tested - I wish that VW had had that engine in the original "new" Polo in 2002, some of use still like that size of engine (in that size of car) with good drivability over the 1.4's with exciting newer technology - like FSI.

A Monday update...

The garage are waiting for the connector patch box to arrive, so that they can check out each of the sensor wires in the cars loom. I can't see them finding anything to be honest, as the fault only shows up once or twice a week, and unless its showing when they test the car, all the wiring must be fine at the time.

This could go on and on and on :(

One thing for sure, I am not having my car back until it is totally fixed. I am not accepting ' I think its ok' from the dealers, as on one dark wet evening the starting fault is bound to show up.

Ian

i have the 1.4 petrol and have had no problems so far, however i did order ESP and paid for it, but i cant find it anywhere, so not to happy about that

Has it disc brakes at the back??

lol i will be, they have been great with me in the 2-3 months i have been waiting, and they gave me the honeycomb grill for free and the guy put £40 petrol in for free, which was awsome with the price of petrol now
