A car is only worth what someone wants to pay. Its no good adding up what previous owners have spent. The car has to be taken as it stands regardless of previous spendages. 6k for 80k does seem high. But good luck with the sale.

Well i will have around £5000, for that there seems to be a few nice ones, and i was going on you saying the wheels are worth 900 per set!

after im know guru but i would say spending 4ish on one of these cars is going to get you a total shed

Plenty of good uns about for 4k ish if you don't mind waiting for the right one.

Luckily i'm in no rush as i'm in the process of selling my 106 gti and i have another car that i bought for a run around so i will hold out for a good un, i just want to minimise my time i spend driving a mk5 xr3i!

In my experience it's not! I had one on 50k, i had problems, i've got a 106 gti which was on 45k and i've spent a fortune on it! I've bought a ford escort xr3i on 104k and it runs beautifully and had no issues with a 300 mile round trip!

As long as it's been well looked after it won't be a problem!
