Is this conversion better than getting the brembo setup for the ibiza?

Im also looking at hi-spec's at the mo!

Different to - works very well, but no good if you have no access to tools to fix discs

it's about 3mm, but I'll measure it

pagid discs? Can't remember, but I'll have a search

Mork.. did you ever get the chance to measure that?

Im going to trial fit my calipers at weekend, but the engineering shop is not open on a sat.. so if I know the amount to take off i could maybe get it done tomorrow.

If you know or anyone knows, could you let me know please? :)

Im still in the process of doing this conversion, but im a lazy sod! I realised theres no way they will fit under standard rims unless i use spacers [no chance] or machine some of the inside of the wheel away, which is too much hassle. So ive bought some bigger rims.

Ive worked out about 4mm needs machining off the carrier, if you work to maching more off than needed, you can always space it out with some fine washers, or shim steel, which im sure would be fine.

fitting my brakes on monday. Question for mork, ive got the lcr lines which fitting did u use to connect to the caliper, as i have braided hoses at the minute and would like to use them if possible. Im sure ill figure it out when i srip it all down just wondering if you could give me any advice in this area before i start, everything else is sorted.

You have LCR lines?

not LC?

Either way they will fit the union on your cars hardlines.

You're right - 4mm was my measurement too

BUT

to clear std rims I've had to use 5mm spacers. They cleared Super T's without a problem though.

Sorry, mistake there actually lc lines, well the callipers are off an octavia vrs. My cars been fitted with good ridge hoses, so would really like to use these just wondeing if theres a way of taking the fitting off the lc lines and attaching it to the goodridges. From a quick gander today it looks like the standard callipers use a thread fitment, and the vrs callipers use that round banjo type . I better just strip it down and see.

Whilst picking up my brakes from middlemore vw, they had some seat sport callipers in there, looked brand new for a good price! Soo tempted to buy and just mod them to fit! but bwent for the cheaper option!

You could use braided hoses.

I will see if I can do a guide that won't incriminate myself when people machine the wrong bits :)

The hardest bit is machining the carriers correctly & redrilling the discs to 4 stud without comprising the disc.

Another question for m0rk, fitted my brakes today, eveything fitted apart from the soft line ( The threaded fitting) it screws on but the thread is loose so does'nt fully tighten and lock up, did you have this problem if you can remember? cheers matt

The thread screwed onto the union, but really loosely, and wouldnt lock up like the old ones. So if i went to the dealers and bought the hard line union fitting for a tt/s3, this would be the same as ive allready got fitted standard?

I tried using ptfe tape to beef the thread up, but this was still no good. I know theres a difference in the threads, as when i screwed it on, the thread was starting to strip.

Any help on this would be very much appreciated, as im at a bit of a crossraods now.

if you assemble them not using the spring clip, and not thru the chassis connection do they screw properly?

i just took the old brake set up off, and put the soft line behind the strut then screwed the soft line union fitting onto the hard line union fitting. When it was fully screwed on, the soft line union simply kept spinning when insted of torqueing up. When i un did the union, i noticed the thread starting to strip ( it wasnt cross threaded either) i then took the calliper off and tried again with out putting the line behind the strut and it was the same.

I then measured the i/d of the female union and it was within .1 mm off the standard hose, so im a bit baffled, especially as you never came across this problem. Could octavia lines be slightly different.... i woulndnt of thought so though.

Screwing the union on u could definately tell it was to loose though.

Hmmm, wonder if it didn't bite properly 1st time (if the soft threads were knackered?)

But no problems at all

i even tried the caliper from the other side! tried ptfe tape etc. When i screwed the old hose back on that was tight and fine!

Im going to speak to the hydraulics bloke at work tommorow, see if he has any thread compound or something like that. But im a bit worried about blowing the hose off!

Im now wondering if its another fitting on the good ridge hose fitted by the previous owner, But im sure these just fit straight onto the standard union on the hard lines. Still, wouldnt be fun if u never had problems hey!
