What do you think of the UPPER strut brace?

The lower one makes more of a difference I think. The upper one does help and stopped my dashboard rattling so real bonus. Must do mod in my opinion.

Was doing some driving today and decided to push the car to decide on the brace - definately feel the front flexes too much when cornering (high and low speed) so went to Audi and ordered the part for £60. Should arrive on Friday and will get Storm Developments to fit it when I get the car remapped. Should be a big improvement when I come out with another 40hp, new stiffer DBM and upper brace. Can't wait.

Edit: Also asked Fl@pper why he voted that he wasn't impressed and he said it was a mistake - so looks like a thumbs up from everyone on the brace!

Kinda scares me, but I think I'll be brave with this one!
When I get one, I'll search on here for a "how-to" then maybe give it a bash!!!!

Measure, mark, measure, recheck marks, drill, fit bolts, lower car to ground and tighten bolts, drive and smile:)
:headhurt:

Or put it in place get a mate to hold it and dril though the brace
Thats what I dd
:help:
Easy mate! Use good quality, sharp drill bits. Mark it carefully, centre punch your marks, smaller drill bit first then the size required for your bolts. Paint your holes once drilled. Job done.

Just kidding.
Thanks for the advice & encouragement guys!
I'll defo give it a bash when the time comes - it's always more satisfying when you do something yourself, right??

i got the brace , its currently sitting on car , unbolted, but think ive now plucked the courage to have a go ,

what you use to paint the holes , anything in particular,

i need to buy some paint for the de lock cap, could this be used to paint the struts too ??

was going to buy from halfrauds unsure if needed primer and laquer -its flash red

cheers

Just a quickie - would you think using rivets as opposed to nuts/bolts is a good option here? Would there be less chance of corrosion using rivets and would they be as secure? Thanks.

Quick question asked further up thread

Why do the cars not come with this/these braces?

would they be too stiff for normal driving? NCAP tests?

Rivets would work aslong as they are the correct size, strong and fitted correctly. they will have to put up with alot of shear forces.
I have three M12 bolts on each side, these aint breaking

Use steel washers, Nylon one's will be crushed
I don't know where I read to use nylon washers - I think it was another strut brace thread on here. Anyhow thanks for the heads up - sounds like steel bolts, washers and nyloc nuts are the way to go then...
