I would say no. The only nice to have would be the plated discs that would help to keep the corrosion down on them (main cause of mot fail for brakes )

I'm not too sure that I agree with that logic, any "plating" on the discs will be away from the swept areas - and its the swept area corroding that causes MOT failures I'd reckon. ATE do coat the entire discs in an anti-rust coating that is meant to be left on when fitting the discs - so the swept area gets this coating removed and the unswept area stays looking a bit better for longer.

What is the mileage and have you checked out both sides of each rear disc - its easy to look at the outside - but you will need to get the callipers off to have a good look at the insides. I'd also support replace with standard VAG parts - or ATE ones as they should by now all have the ant-rust silver covering on them (get ATE from ECP).

To be honest, they will stock them for that car, if in doubt take a look at the ATE site and find out the ATE numbers for the discs for your car, you might find that as VAG "might" fit different sizes of brakes on cars in different markets - or call the cars by another name in other markets, that you will first need to know the diameter and thickness of the discs on your car. Note these ATE numbers down as they should end up being on the box of discs that they sell you. They do make mistakes as I've discovered quite often - but the ATE site is usually correct. In fact if you take a rear wheel off you should be able to make out the VAG part numbers on it - and I seem to remember that they are also quoted on the ATE site. ECP are sole importers of ATE brake aftermarket parts - so that means if its made then ATE can send them out to ECP so don't accept "sorry we can't get them" because its not true and they are being lazy - yes I've been there before "no longer available - but this other stuff is just as good" - that proved that some of them do not listen to the customer's original question.

Dont spent money for new discs. they are sooo small you wont even notice the difference.

Get some rear audi S3 brakes.

I bought a set of new S3 callipers, brake discs, pads etc etc.

They are bigger than the Cd player discs we all have as rear brakes lol. but still they aint huge.

I didnt do it for looks though :)

yes.

Personally i enjoy my car on twisty country roads as many of you.

Here in Greece i am sure you have heard, road quality is cr*p most of the time...

So for me stopping power is very important when youre doing say 120 on a blind corner where you meet an old pick up truck doing 50....lol

Thats why i upgraded my front AP calipers for 6 pot 330x32 brakes.

The rear brakes gave an extra stability to the rear of my cupra.

So combine all that with Toyo R888s, KW variant 3, strut brace, rear arb...i feel quite confident with the stopping power on my car now. :)

Maybe, but I'd doubt if any money has been spent on the UK roads since you were last here.

On top of that, a rather nasty spot of severe frost and snow has really changed things even more!

My youngest daughter tells me that its due to an "inversion effect" where land masses further North than us are getting winter temperatures like what we should be getting and we are getting their lower temperatures - and its not very nice!!

Oh i see then.

Same here...during wither, snow and rain destroys the streets, which are either never repaired for many years, or bad quality repairs are carried out.

Lowered cars, 18 inch wheels are not welcome arround here :(

Oh well...

Thats about what the state of British roads are getting to be like. the roads by me have been patched to the extent that you can hardly see any original tarmac
