Using washer jets on windscreen

Does this happen for anyone else? - If I have the heat on in the car, doesn't matter what the temp is set to and it is on about half power when I give the window washer a squirt on the window to clean it the heater power goes up for a min or so before going back to where it had been set. Hope that makes some sense has anyone else noticed this?

haven't noticed that, but it would make perfect sense. in our colder climate it's normal procedure to turn heater up and towards windscreen when using the jets. this is to stop the wiper blades freezing to point of being useless. have to deffo check it out, but I for one would applaude such feature.

Hi, yes I have noticed that on my ST Se 143 this last week and wondered why, must have used washers and fan speeds throughout the summer months but never noticed, so is it a temperature related action?....Julian

I only mentioned this to a passenger yesterday...dodgy SEAT electrics was his reply

When you use the washers the heating system operates the air recirculation flap. This is intended to stop the smell of the screen wash coming into the passenger cabin. As the air flow through the heater is restricted, it makes the heater motor work harder and thats what you hear.
