Already posted n the Vag-Com section but just in case anyone on here can help.

I hooked the Cupra up to VAG-COM today (cheers EZ Tutty for the help), and got the following fault codes :

17748 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28): Incor. Correlation

16395 - Bank 1: Camshaft A (Intake): Retard Setpoint not Reached (Over-Advanced)

Now after a bit of reading it seems to indicate that either the Camshaft position sensor is at fault, or the timing is out - however as its a 54 plate car its never had a cambelt change (at least not one I have a receipt for)

Can anyone shed any light on these fault codes?

Cheers

Anthony

It should have had a change by now, if it hasnt then this could be the problem.

It does sound like the cambelt timing is out, worth checking. If thats ok then look into the camshaft sensor but they dont often go wrong.

You havent said but assuming its a 1.8T

Thats correct, it is the 1.8 20VT engine. The only thing I will say about the timing, is the fact this will be its first cambelt change - so assuming this surely the timing should be out?

It is booked in for a cambelt and waterpump change at JBS on tuesday anyhow :)
