Can vcds be used on my dads clc?
I had a little play but couldn't connect to any controllers.
We've got a genuine hex+can USB cable
It has srs issues
I also tried our memoscan u600 code reader but this also fails to communicate.
I have no clue with Mercedes as I'm a VAG man so any help would be very appreciated.

Hi mate I'm not certain but I'd suspect that it would use the traditional OBD-2 as opposed to Vag-com

I'm not certain but I'd imagine that the vag-com only works with Audi / Seat / VW platforms

The only system that will talk to a merc properly is a merc star system, all merc dealers have them, most merc (and for that matter German car) specialists have them, or even if you have a smart specialist in your area, they'll most likely have one too!

Not much help on a bank holiday weekend but at least you have options! (Where abouts are you in the world)

Oh so vag com is out of the question then. We are in Ashford, Kent

Ah, bit far from me otherwise I'd have plugged it in for you, have a look online for a German car specialist near you and give them a tinkle, they may plug it in and read the faults for a couple of beer tokens and if the fault is current at least they can tell you what it is..
