Hey, If the guy wants to swap, let him. Diesel isn't everyones cup of tea you know and it isn't all about torque and MPG either.

Jesus christ,
Well to be honest I mean you've got to take into account what you use the car for.
Prior to my petrol cupra I had a TDI PD100.

I would get around 600 miles to a tank very easily and that to me was one months fuel.
I traded mine in hastily without putting it into consideration.

I know its not about torque or MPG, However it does play a massive factor in running the car, Plus a TDI will last forever.
I cant sing their praises enough, If your doing low miles however and fancy a change of scenery then swop it out.

But remember its going to cost you more in fuel, More in Tax, More in Insurance and probably more to buy (Depending on its age) for very little performance gain (But a nicer sound.)

I'd did a similar ish jump. I had a fairly sorted Cupra TDI, and went back to the petrol side.

Dont kid yourself about the MPG, it will affect your judgement of the car... I'm just coming to terms with dropping from getting 46mpg on my commute, to 24.

Drive a petrol cupra before you take the jump, as I think you'll find the diesel "seems/feels" quicker. Unless your going to BT it, I think you need to think hard.

If only diesels sounds like petrols ;)

thanks for your thoughts lads very interesting. I used to have a mk3 cupra running around the 200ish mark. i needed to change it through work but now i have changed my job aand hardly doing any miles. i do understand what you's are saying about price and so on. i spoke to the old owner of my car he says its a tuning box thats in my car, was wondering if i took it to star performane and did an ecu remap if i would feel a difference power wise. To be honest i know its a different power from a petrol and to be fair it is pretty quick just not as much fun as a petrol.

 Pretty much what swung it for me! IF your doing less miles now, i'd say go for it.

As for your other question, a remap will always be better (99.9% of the time) than a tunning box.

i have a cupra tdi and i love it, dont get me wrong the petrol is amazing too, but the diesel remapped will surprise you and most drivers on the road :drive1:, this car is built well and for a deisel its a pocket rocket. a few mods and it will take it to 200+bhp. have you taken the petrol out for a drive?

take the petrol one for a drive and then decide what u think.. as u will be doing less miles and if u not mind paying more money for tax and petrol , as petrol and desiel will be going up even more very soon it shouldnt be a problem changing over..

def go for a drive in the petrol cupra though,
