Warniing Light - Glow Plugs?

Had the excess pollution light on few days ago, not flashing just on. Took it in for diagnostics and glow plug error was up so stripepd it down and checked them and cleaned it all up, light reset and stayed off but was advised if it comes back on may need glow plugs.

Now people are saying this is expensive. First off if they go when driving what happens, second how much is it to get them done and can you do them yourself without needing loads of knowledge as they seem to be around 15 quid each which isnt mega money.

double checking you have a tdi?
if yes, there is a nice long thread with part numbers and costs for glow plugs and the harness bridge as a few of us have seen this follow not long after.

yes you can do both yourself.
does it take long?
harness couple of hours
plugs - i got garage to do as easier

what happens when your driving, no idea as mine worked fine with the light on for about 2-3weeks

i just bought 4 glow plugs from seremotors for about £8.95 each, took 5 mins to change over easy job. Have you run vag com to see if there are any codes displayed? I had one relating to glow plug control module which i changed. no more lights for me

Yeah the garage ran vag com, any guides around to show how you change them?
