could be indicating a difference in reading between the two lambda sensors either side of the catalytic converter meaning your emissions are too high. get it checked out.

probably wrong but i thought that was engine management

best bet is to get the car onto a VAG-COM search asap

I was just reading up about this problem and am gona try disconnecting the battery for a while to stop the light coming on. Is there any complications from disconnecting the battery from the car for aprox 10-15 mins and then reconnecting it? Think im gona see if i can reset it and then if the light comes back on, then deffo get it checked out

i think you need to do a throttle body realignment if you dc the battery....and make sure you have your radio code.

hey all,

my cupra R came up with a warning light yesterday evening... anybody know what it means??

I looked in the manual and it said something about excess pollution??

Here's what i see:

Hi,

I had the same thing happened to me,

Got it checked out by a friend, to find out it was the Lamdasone sensor,
I have not fitted it as yet so don’t now for sure it is the correct sensor as mentioned in a previous post there is two Lamda sensors.

My friend is a mechanic it was checked with a Snap On unit which read the fault, he is fairly shore it is the one that they ordered for me. I still have the box the part number is 06A 906 262 BE.

I recently had a coil pack go and it may have been from then as the sensor was getting the wrong reading, i think that is what he said.

The best thing is to take it to a garage for them to read the fault.

Regards

Vic

thanks for the help guys. I tried disconnecting the battery and the engine management light went off, but came back on within a few hours :( so yea im gona have to get the car checked out.. pain in the behind i tell ya, have to organise getting time off work now :(

The car is running fine though, pulls as well as ever

warning light

hi mate.

the eng man light will come on if any fault detected in engine systems or especially emission related faults. lamda sensors are very common 3-5 yrs old probably the pre cat sensor. sits in front of the cat and measures mixture, then the second sits after cat to ensure cat is working effectively. battery disconnect only works short term as fault will reappear after driving a set amount(varies). check the wiring hasnt chaffed through or melted but prob new sensor reqd.

cheers:)

I'll put money on it being the coolant sensor fault.

The fact it went out after battery disconnect and didn't re-appear straight away (couple of hrs) and with no real difference to how your car runs it will be the coolant sensor.

Get ecu scanned first but im pretty sure it will be this! Change black for green sensor and it will solve the problem.

The 'emission' light as it appears in the booklet is misleading as it automatically attracts your attention to the exhaust system. 99.99999% of the time its nothing to do with the exhaust system!!

If you have a sports cat fitted, this light will appear unless you have had it disabled via stage 2 map!

Coilpack problems, car would run like a bag of Sh*t and the engine light would flicker.

Dodgy sensor.

ive had a stage 2 type remap with just a filter and std exhaust and this is the case also.
light is constantly on and the engine hesitates in longer gears 345&6 u think sports cat and mapout the 2nd sensor will cure this??? i have some trust in u mitchy!!!!!what u think??

Well its two months later. i was away for a good bit and didnt get a chance to fix the light but did get a quote for an upstream oxygen sensor which my local dealer told me my car needed costin 300 quid

but anyway, i just last week was about to book the car in to get it sorted when all of a sudden the light went off... and its stayed off since... its been 5 or 6 days now, no engine management light. Its not the bulb thats for sure cause i see it come on when i put on the ignition lol

dunno what to make of it but im happy i dont have to spend 300 quid [B)]
