Mine has got the same fault , the amber engine warning light came on last week and took it to my local dealer today and they tell me the Coolant Temperature switch is faulty..

i have had the same light come on today and stay on only difference is mine is the 150 fr tdi still runs the same revs upto red line not any smokier have checked out the maf sensor and air filter light is still on ..... car is just over 2 years old with 20000 miles on the clock.... cant get to the dealers until friday....

been to the dealers tonight cant run a diagnostic check for nearly 2 weeks 4 th september but the service guy asked a few questions and then said it could be 1 coil pack but diesels dont have them, 2brake light switch but my brake lights work and the third thing was the coolant sensor faulty sounds pretty convinced that is the problem so have got to wait till 4th sept

Where is the coolant sensor switch guys? Could anyone provide a picture, sorry to be such a spud, but Im still finding my away the engine bay on the old girl. Ive had this issue for bl**dy ages, but never heard of the coolant sensor before, so I thought id give it a go... if I can find it.

Cheers

even if its gone off ando i would still try find someone local that has VAG-COM
it only takes 5 minutes to check the car and could give you forwarning of something more sinister
