how does it work? like is a controller req? does it run on the same principal as nos in the form of only being injected at full throttle?

Not sure if all kits are the same, but my Devils Own kit, takes a pressure feed from the boost pipework, which connects to a pressure switch. This can be adjusted so that the pump kicks in at different pressures.
You can get progressive controllers, but on diesels theres very little to be gained from having this.

I'm running an Aquamist IDC controller with a DevilsOwn 250psi pump...IATs go up to 20* celsius on a WOT run (with 28* celsius ambient temps in South Africa)...Was able to bump timing and boost up consierably and that yielded both power and torque...(I'm running MK4 20vt CUPRA)

I would not consider the MAF based controllers as they can be tricky to tune effectively...

Damien: 6* advance above our Unitronic stg2 file. Considering that I run a fuel mix of Toulene, Xylene, Methanol also, I could possibly advance further but I don't want to encounter pumping losses...I have also raised boost to spike @ 1.50 bar and hold 1.0 bar (@6500rpm) using my Gizzmo MS-IBC). With the low IATs, high octane, and decent EGTs, the car is making very decent power up at our altitude (atmospheric ambient pressure is 830Mbar)...This is a def mod for the 1.8T motors which are prone to detonation...

is yours a MAP or MAF run wmi?

i have been reading my eyes out on this for the past week, been thinking a lot about this! pretty much have the snow performance stage 2 kit but still not sure where i want to fit the nozzle and how the logs would work on vag com, the channels are different compared to the lcr and mine is the cupra tdi so some of the units are different...

iv bin running WI on my ibiza tdi for over 20k now and have only got good things to say about it.

Iv got the Devils own kit running from the MAP sensor. On the RR i got a gain of 22 bhp and have a much smoother power and torque curve and drive. only down side is one more thing to keep topped up, even if its only in the boot.

are you running methanol or just water?

I drive a ibiza tdi

No its on a progressive controller so the more revs and boost the more WI is injected unless i was to set the levels stupidly low it will be fine. carnt see how it would be unless i was injecting to much to eraly?

All fitted by me, pump and bottle in boot with a long line to a nozzle taped into a custom race pipe

My understanding was, that anything more than a 50/50 mix, and your asking for trouble. This has come from a bloke at devils own themselves.

thats what i thought too, we have no timing so cant even adjust it to allow methanol to do its job at its best, so is the extra 20% methanol not getting wasted and actually doing damage/causing damage?

I think that anything above 60/40 (m:w) is actually going to cause insane in-cylinder temps...The octane benefits will be overshadowed by the high temps (not IATs, in cylinder)...I have gone up to 85% and it felt good for a couple runs (higher octane), thereafter it started to labour (higher combustion temps)...Also, most pump manufactures do not recommend going above 50/50 as inferior grade methanol damages the seals...

With running the progressive set up i could run 80% meth and not do any damage, because i can set up the meth injection duty cycle to the correct mix in rellation to the revs, boost, diesel injected. so will always have optimum leves of meths in with the amount of diesel injected not just a lump of meths with the diesel from low RPM. What people forget is that WI should never be burnt as a liquid. its there to cool the charge by evaperating and using that engergy to remove heat and giving a little octane boost.

As for combuston temps iv had one of our v8s running on 100% meth. It burns so cold we ran with no cooling system and all cooling ports welded up

Meths burns cooler than petrol or diesel and brings down the egts....Fact
im running the purist meths you can get virgin 99.99%
