I think having modifications probably would make it more expensive to insure that a standard cupra. I have a bog standard Ibiza Cupra mk3 and I have enquired and modifications shoot the insurance through the roof, but maybe that's just my scenario.

Not true. if you get quotes from specialist modified car insurance companies you will find a modded 1.4 is MUCH Cheaper to insure i.e. I'm 18 and have a modded 1.4 and pay £1200 with everything declared. a standard cupra, not even a ICR would cost me Well over £5-£6000 easily. This is my scenario granted and your insurance company obviously don't favour modded cars hence why yours will cost more :D

My Dad had Continental Sport Contacts on his Astra SRI, not sure which particular vararity, but he rated them highly, not cheap though.

My dad runs these on his XK8 and rates them too! ;) and no definately not cheap in 19" :(

I fitted Goodyear F1's to my Leon following researching the net. I feel I made a huge mistake.

The cheap mixture of worn down tyres that were on the car to start with were much better & gripped very well. The car now feels sloppy & traction light keeps flashing up when pulling away to quick or cornering hard.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems with these tyres?

No, never heard of anyone having bad experiences come to mention it.

I have F1's on the rear and can't really fault them, but they need replacing now and I'm in a dilemma whether to go for them again, or get Toyo T1R's to match the front which again I can't fault. All these tires were on the car when I got it but weren't new and they've lasted about a year under my ownership which is good considering it's only the left rear which has worn down. (bloody Milton Keynes roundabouts!!)
I've been doing a lot of reading on tires the last few days and found great prices on blackcircles, mytyres & camskill. I'm a bit of a tart a want the directional 'V' tread and for the price I'm leaning towards the Toyo's for wear and price...?

I've used a few different brands of tyres on these cars, the only ones i've found really decent were Toyo's and Goodyear.

I had T1-S's before they made T1-R's, and on my last 2 Cupra's i've had Toyo T1-R's.

At the moment I have Marangoni Zeta's on the back and Firestone somethings on the front, they were there when I bought it, the 2 fronts were new on, but they are rubbish, the fronts at least.

I've also driven my mates Cupra with Eagle F1 GSD3's, and they are superb, but pricey...

A tyre not many say much on, which I think are good, are Uniroyal rainsports...

That said, Pirelli's, Bridgestone and Michelin's are bound to have decent tyres...

my mate has an e46 BMW M3 and has been quoted £250 a tyre... 255/35/19s though.

Yeah - not heard any issues with F1s. All the feedback i've heard is they wear well, grip well, cost effective and good in the wet. I was going to get some yokos or toyos, but when it came down to it, ive heard good and bad about those
