Bit of a daft question but a few of you have asked me about this.

Basically a couple of you have said that Cupra Rs were only painted in Ebony black, not black magic. I always thought ebony was a solid colour but mine is definately metallic.:wtf:

I know my car was one of the last built but in january i was origially told by one dealer that no more black ones remained for sale, however another dealer got hold of one for me. I've also seen seen in the old leon brochure that the R was advertised in ebony, not magic.

I'm getting a bit confused now, i'm pretty sure my leon's kosher but you guys are the experts, can anyone shed any light on this or anyone else got a cupra R in black magic?

as far as i know, no LCR was ever made in black magic
they were all ebony black
if you park mine and yours next to each other im sure you'll see the difference, black magic has a sort of purple tint to it under some lights

my moneys on ebony black bud

Mine has purple tint to it, it's definatly metallic. The fleck pop a treat when its machine polished. This is why i'm confused.

When I first went to my dealership after picking up my car I was speaking to one of the lads there about the paint, and the condition it was in. He was saying that most LCR were Ebony black but latter models changed over to the Black Magic.
Having looked at Parkers it seems they did offer Black Magic from Jun 2005 onwards but this was possible the last of the mk1 Leons available/built.

danny... i saw ur sig the other day and asked you this question, dont know if u saw it as mork deleted a few off topic posts!

but like most ppl have said, as far as im aware, SEAT only officially made ebony black LCRs...

i believe u if u say urs is metalic, i mean just have a close look at the paint and you can see the metalic if it is metalic!

if so ur lucky!

a unique LCR!

The late plate (05 if I recall) LCR I had as a courtesy car for a week was certainly Black Magic, so this backs up what others are saying... :)

Most of the Cupra R's were Ebony Black, but on the run-out at the beginning of this year there were quite a few in Black Magic. We had the last Ebony black one in our dealership which we transferred out to another dealer, as all of the Black Magic ones sold out first.

Thanks guys, i'll go and check paint code. I'm happy it's black magic cos i certainly paid for metallic paint! As i said i'm hapy it is but just from what a couple of you said about only making them in ebony i was getting confused, doesn't take much with me! And as my my only experience with seat is this car, i wanted to ask the experts. Thanks all!

Paint code is BAM. So looks like i got a sparkly one, shame it still stone chips and scratches like a mofo!

See you guys are the experts! thanks James! Thats what i get for living with Vauxhalls for so long. Which number on that sticker is paint code?

it should be in your pdi inspection book along with your owners hand book or on a big sticker in the boot under the carpet!
