My insurance is actually cheaper, having just run a quote.

I pay for servicing anyway now, but it i was to change it I may just service it myself and run the car to the ground.

Tax may be slightly more.

I know what people are saying though, its just food for thought at the minute, obviously I'd have to do proper research into it and ensure I got the right car.

Another thing that will continue to irritate me for a very long time now is the wheel bearing. It makes a noise and vibrates, and I know its there, but the recommendations I have is that its no where near bad enough to change.

I changed mine 2 weeks after I started to hear it. Could hardly hear it when I changed it. The thing it will just get worse as worse an hopefully won't completely fail on you. You do a lot of mileage to becareful. It's only a £80 part so I would get it changed.

Everywhere I've been has said the genuine part is £130, plus an 1.5 hours of labour - total around £240 :(

With what money?

I work part time for my dad's company along with delivery driving for the local take away. I don't earn enough money to pay him back at the minute. Come September I'm back in uni again!

Ultimately I'm probably gonna have to just fix what's wrong with it (bodywork and wheel bearing) and keep it. Maybe a cheeky remap too.

Seen this though - looks smart. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201405144208154?atmobcid=soc4

Surely if you are struggling for money this wouldn't be an option lol

Maybe money that could be used to pay your old man back ;)

I've just been discussing with him and he's said it doesn't really matter about the money, just pay it back whenever!
money clearly not an issue, must be a nice position to be in, you're very lucky.

for me though I'd want to get rid of any debt as soon as possible, regardless of who i owe.

Won't the remap increase insurance though? And if you use your motor for delivering takeaways you need to get business use as well .......

Still waiting to get the car valeted after the company next door decided to empty their paint filters all over it. Saying they can't find anybody to do it. I have found someone and told them it will be £80 as it needs buffed and polished due to the damage it has done. They only want to pay to get it washed.
Got to wait till Tuesday now. :censored:
Paint work feels like sandpaper.

Just had rac out cos car wouldnt start. No fault codes, nothing obvious. Mechanic said thinks it was fuel related, and tried to explain it to me, something about not pulling enough up. Went over my head but made sense when he said it. He sprayed some easy start in the air intake and it fired up after a couple of attempts. He loved the car so much he spent about 45 minutes just talking to me about it. Its fired up everytime since. Wierd

Jarre -

I'm in the same sort of situation, at uni, working part time and the car needs a few bits to it to make it look how I want plus little things continually keep going wrong. (Noticed I've got a squeaky front bush on the way home from work today -.-) Looked at selling up and buying something cheaper, but the issue isn't the value of the car it's that's I'm too car proud, it won't matter if it's the leon or a 90's micra I'd still want to play with it, tidy it up and spend money on it. I'm just going to keep on top of the issues as best possible until I finish uni and sort them out then or I'd be spending my loan each times it comes in.
