I think that's what I'm going to try, although I suspect they'll be a bit too light. I'm also in contact with a couple of companies about possibly getting some custom ones made instead.

So, a few years ago I carbon wrapped my air vents and all the chrome trim. Over time the red wrap has faded and started to look a bit rubbish. So now I've stripped the red, plus the chrome underneath, and sprayed it red instead. I'm much happier with it now.

I'd like to do the rings on the air con/heater panel but I can't get them off. Does anyone have any idea how to remove them, please?

I do like the idea of doing the chrome trims in red, but last time I tried I broke one , maybe some tips on removing the ones around the steering wheel?

With the vent knobs, I know you can remove the whole knob if you take the panel off. There's little clips or screws holding them in place but not so sure you can remove the rings. IIRC they're "melted" in place but you could cut them out and glue them back.

Suggestion, maybe wrap the little gloss black inlay at the base of the steering wheel carbon too.

I disassembled the two side air vents, the driver's side I had to glue the gloss black trim back into the vent bit. Also, the gloss black trim, round the centre vents/media screen, had to be glued as well.

If you pop out the air bag, after disconnecting the battery, the two switch units and the bottom bit can be gently prised out. Taking care not to break the two clips at the top of the bottom bit, like I did more glue. I didn't disconnect the air bag and the little connector for the switch units is a bit arkward. Also, make sure the electrical ribbon is routed correctly before refitting airbag, otherwise you'll rip it out the switch units.

Chrome trim was picked/scraped off with a Stanley knife and scalpel.

Thanks for that, I might give it another go, but at the moment it just screams 9 fingers, deployed airbag and hands glued to the dash.
Maybe when the weather warms a bit.

So long as you take your time you should be OK and all the gluing is done away from the car

Today's fun was recovering with a hangover from Saturday night friends drinking and decided to give the cupra dog mobile a quick wash and then ended up cleaning the wife's I20N behind.

1 car wash always seems to end in 2 cars to do!

Also stuck the roof bars on ready for long weekend away in Wales soon.

Change the gear knob. The old one had seen better days, so treat myself to the one above.
Also, the car has a suspicious drone above 30mph so it’s going in the garage on Tuesday, no doubt it’s a wheel bearing on the way out

OK, so I've now done the heater/air con knob bezels.

I'm thinking of doing the chrome bit on the gear knob. Does anyone know if it can be prised off?

Hi mate how did you change the gear knob was it easy to do cheers mate

It’s an easy job, you’ll need trim removal tools, flat head screw driver and a pair of pinch pliers. Just pull/pry the gaiter cover trim loose this will allow access to the bottom of the gear knob. It’s held on by a crimp clip. I attacked this with the screw driver and pliers until loose. Remove the gear knob from the stick. Undo the clip holding the gaiter cover, remove cover from gear knob. I bought an oem replacement, so it was simply the reverse process to put the new one on, using the pinch pliers to tighten the crimp clamp. I took a few pics, which hopefully help too.

Also had the oil,oil filter and air filter done at the same time.

Had the first haldex service yesterday at around 29,000 miles. Definitely worth doing as the filter was completely clogged up.

Also recently had a full detail alongside my wife’s Golf. Looked amazing for a day
