Got round to fitting the autoart projectors with today ahead of with Osram night breaker unlimited main beams and silvered indicators.

Was very exited, but sadly two of the drl led's are dead, glad I plugged em in for a test first.

Still fitted a new fog lamp after one cracked, clear coated the other to refresh it and fitted some blue tinted cheap xenon look bulbs.

Will get this all sorted at some stage :)

Shame

They look great mate. Are they the GTI-R shrouds? Do you know which other shrouds will fit within the Leon lense? Would the Apollo or Gatling gun shrouds fit? Also which projectors did you use?

These are the Gti shrouds....as for others they do fit but they need trimming. The problem with the leon reflector is that it's slightly oval and any projector in the middle doesn't sit straight without some 'butchering'!!! You can use a mini gatling shroud but personally I don't like the small size of it but the full size can be trimmed slightly. As for the projectors, the ones in Wills are D2S but I have some with H1 which are just as good. Got loads of photos if you're interested!

P.S Will...pull your finger out and finish those lights and get them sold! ;)

Must say I'm well impressed with performance lights, they are couriering a replacement headlamp for a swap out on wed to my office, would have arranged for tomorrow but I only drive the leon on Wednesdays and I normally cycle (my take clean clothes to work and leave early to help out with the kids at beavers day).

Very refreshing after my still unresolved fiasco wit caraudio center (grrrrr).

Hopefully fit them on Sunday. Had a test though and the light output was way better that current and the night breaker unlimited high beams were awesome. Have me a headache after looking at te directly by mistake.

Rob......

I'm another step closer!
Hopefully if I'm not tired after work tonight I will spend an hour or so sealing up atleast 1 headlight!!!

Got some Air spray to clean out whatever dust is inside, also some cleaner spray to leave a streak free finish to the reflective housings and projectors :)

Rob I have almost completed 1 headlight, this butyl sealant stuff is going everywhere and is sticky as hell!
However does it matter if I leave small gaps? As I can't seem to get the original black bits back into shape? I assume I can use the butyl sealant afterwards to fill in any gaps?

Ok so that was a right mess of a job but got there in the end!
Managed to burn myself with the sealant sticking to my hand after heating it up on the housing!

So here's a picture of the 1st one!
Used duck tape to secure it whilst cooling down!

This is the headlight still split with butyl sealant in the gap ready to be sealed

Think I will use more butyl sealant to fill in the gaps later on
Although I could leave the duck tape on since they won't be visible when fitted?

Will, don't leave the tape on as it will look rubbish! Lol. You can apply some butyl in the gaps after to tidy it up and stop any moisture. On another set I did I applied a layer of black silicon to make it look tidy as the butyl I applied had already done its job in sealing....the black silicone just matches he headlights better.

Apart from that the lights are looking good!...I'll use clamps to hold the lights together but duct tape is just as good!

Cheers Rob. I've actually sourced some H1 Morimoto projectors and GTI-R shrouds to have a go myself. What's the best way to split the headlights on the Leon? Is it easier to use a heat gun or to heat them up in the oven? I'm a bit concerned about melting them. Also, how did you go about getting the projector to sit straight in the reflector?

The oven method probably won't work because these headlights are permaseal however if you have a set of aftermarket headlights the oven method will work however I used a heat gun. Just make sure you direct he heat on the black plastic as this will soften, the clear front lens will actually burn due to being a different type of plastic.
The H1 morimoto will sit in the existing bulb hole without any adjustment however the issue is that the reflectors are slightly oval and so the GTI shrouds will probably have to be trimmed along the top to fit within the reflector.

Hey mate,

I also used a heatgun to split mine, takes patience but you will eventually get there! ;)
Splitting them and sealing them back up is the hardest job as it takes forever lol

To be fair though Rob helped me out LOADS!!!!
Thanks Rob :)

Rob,

You will be glad to know that i have now sealed both headlights :)
All i have to do is wait a few days for the butyl sealant to dry up, then apply more butyl to fill in any gaps.
Got to be honest though i have made a right messy job looks disappointing although i know the beam pattern is perfect and the lights will be in working condition :)

custom made drl

Will, as long as they are sealed up then I wouldn't worry as the sealant is never seen...the most important thing is being able to see the road at night!

Hi Rob. Have you got any pics you can share of your car with the custom made drls please. I'm interested to see how they look. Cheers Paul.:D
