Replaced both rear calipers, discs & pads, pressure bled system but still have a soft brake pedal
Will have to look at bleeding master cylinder 2moro!!

The bleed nipples on the master cylinder are an utter pig to get to and get a tool on, but bleeding it does make a big difference.

I stripped the threads of one of the rear brake calipers a few years back and lost most of my brake fluid, so it's likely I need to bleed the ABS too, but that's a job I can't do on the street. I bled it as best I could and my brake pedal still sinks, but it gets through the MoT and so I've just kind of decided to live with it.

I'd love to do the Brembo upgrade or a decent brake setup. I'm tired of the brakes feeling so woolly.

Tried my new Ryobi torch to have a check over the engine. PCV system is covered in oil 😞
Mostly around the plastic 90 degree elbow, so I'll probably change it for a metal one and refit all the silicone hoses all over again.
And no i can't be arsed with a catch can 🙂

I had moisture in my boost pipes a year ago. Had no idea where it was coming from, but when I was trying to get a better look at the engine, I must have grabbed the PCV elbow and my hand got absolutely covered in oil. I don't think I'd have had any idea anything was wrong with that unless I did that.

Replaced it with a Febi one and haven't had any issues since.

Didn't realise they could break or leak or anything, so I was thinking I had a hole in the intercooler or something. That could have been an expensive job.

Oh boy, not happy with my garage - the pollen filter shroud hadn't been fitted correctly at service - so one soggy filter and a ton of water down the air inlet.
After the torrential rain of the last week I noticed a sloshing sound from he passenger front area - I had to go though a couple of flooded areas recently and was concerned the noise was related to that as the water was a several inches deep, but I'm worried the water has bypassed the blower fan and headed south. I'd noticed within the engine bay a lot of water dripping on the firewall from what I assume is the aircon condenser down onto the subframe. Carpet seems dry on top at present.

Second find was what I hope is the cause of my coolant leak - thanks to an endoscope camera I'd acquired for another purpose its great for thos hard to see places in the engine bay...

So it looks to me that the pipe isn's seated correctly and the retaining clip is way off straight allowing coolant to get by and ooze out. Rate of loss is about quarter of a litre oc coolant every 100 miles or so.
Thankfully I'm on leave this week, so if weather permits I'll be removing battery and air filter housing etc to get in there and set itall straight.

To be fair I've had to refit the pollen filter three times before and only the third time stopped the leaking and I have no idea why!

That clamp definitely looks wonky

Seal under the pollen box that fix’s to the body could be gone, worth checking

Yep, I will take a look at that in due course. I got the filter fully dried out and refitted though its a right faff to get just right.
I did try to whip the wiper arms off but they're on there pretty good and wanted to crack on with the coolant issue.

That rubber cover that goes on top then you fit the two clips that hold it on the cowl panel I always Check that rubber side’s don’t kink left side is worst for it, also worth looking if there’s damage on it like rips ect , sounds really wet that filter I’d change it once sorted

Managed to get in there firstly with some long nose pliers and alter the clamp by rotating it so that it faces upwards. Once done I got in there with some bettergrip, reseated the hose and feel happier... however...
I found the coolant was dripping onto that hose from above from one of those black electrical cable protectors with a fairly consistent drip every minute or so. Tracing it back it seems the coolant is weeping from the coolant flange that holds the coolant temp sensor where it meets the cylinder head, looks like it drips onto the hard lines that share the flange mounting, then the drip transfers to the cable protector.
New flange and o-ring seal ordered as being plastic I dunno if its slightly warped or just the o-ring gone.
As I need to replace the radiator fan switch and wil need to drain the coolant I may as well do it at the same time.

Also found the upper gearbox cable it missing the clip that holds it on to the gearbox selector - oh the joys.
I'm struggling to find a part number for the retaining circlip - the yellow item #1

Hi all, I have not made this. But someone who did, the inserts firmly hold a 250mm redbull can remove inserts for coffee cups and larger bottles. No more dreaded drips onto stereo lol. If interested just comment below.

I managed to get the coolant flange replaced - all went smoothly, though the hard pipes that run in front of it and share one of the mounting studs was a pain to wrestle out the way enough to allow the flange to come out.
No sign of coolant loss so far.

Changing the radiator fan switch doesn't seem to have resolved the low speed fan coming on. The fans work fine in both high and low speed with aircon on,
so it does confuse me that low speed is absent when aircon off. I'm aware of the fan resistor burnout problem but it seems strange to me that the fans on low speed plus aircon would not utilise the fan resistor - presumably the voltage is dropped somewhere else in the system?!

Also forgot to mention it's a nice snug fit into the armrest, and he does many colors and the best part was this cost £15 with delivery and I think the inserts as well, as I asked for them afterwards but I'm sure they are included.
