Had booked the car into local Skoda dealer - where I've had a few things & MOTs done - to have both front wheel bearings + outer cv boot replace (£188 quoted), but just had phone call to say that I would have to pay for all new bolts on hubs and also if they damaged the hubs "due to corrosion" then I would have to pay for new ones - get this.........at £178 each !!!!!!!!!
Told the guy I would pay for new bolts but if they damaged my hubs then they have to pay....he said NO
So I told him to return car to my drive

Had booked the car into local Skoda dealer - where I've had a few things & MOTs done - to have both front wheel bearings + outer cv boot replace (£188 quoted), but just had phone call to say that I would have to pay for all new bolts on hubs and also if they damaged the hubs "due to corrosion" then I would have to pay for new ones - get this.........at £178 each !!!!!!!!!

Same here. Scanned it with a snap-on reader and no fault codes, did a parts test aswell which was intereting to see.
I did discover my cat cover hanging off though so going to get it on a ramp weds and rip it off. Anyone done this and had problems ? It doesnt seem to sit very low and I haven't done any lowering. Also discovered a slight rattle near the mid section that I'l have to check out.
I ripped mine out within a week of getting the car, no problems
it was hanging off too.
Replaced the rubber 'o' ring on the 'pancake hose' for it to whistle even louder at me (new seal AND CLIP) ordered this time.
So i might post the same again tomorrow lol
Lowered the rear end, just enough to tuck the tyres in the arches,(just springs) she sits better now

done the piaa horns and popped on a jr filter hidden under top half of my air box, all in all the car sounds lovvvvely !!

.haha where has all the crap come of (oh if the bolts need to be replaced if they are damaged due to corrosion)
i have worked on cars 20yrs old and the bolts are bulit proof shouldnt they be...the cost of the outer cv boot is a cheap one to do,but a pain in the arse to do itsabit tircky to others ive done before.as for the wheel bearing can they not be pressed out yourself using a threaded bolts and nuts and peice of strong steel(wind back tool) i might be wrong suggesting the bearing is all in one?....thats is you have the time though,saying that weather is sh5te

I've only been in the trade 5 years, but NEVER had an issue with front hubs when doing wheel bearings, I can get the bolts though, I put a set of coilovers on the bora and the thread looked half cattle trucked, they are not any more than £6 for the pair though.
