Took my car in for a service, mot, aircon service, replacement coil packs, both belts and waterpump.
Then i was told there is no point them doing the mot yet as its going to fail on a dodgy headlight bracket, damaged nsr spring, broken exhaust bracket and its going to cost over £900 to fix the steering rack,i never had any problems with the steering.

I'd be seriously getting a second opinion
+1 - take it to your local council place and get them to MOT it after you sort the broken spring, exhaust hanger and headlight bracket.
What did they say was wrong with the steering rack?
Just fitted two front anti roll bar link arms. Raised the coilovers all round. And fitted new rear bump stops and dustcovers.
(Yesterday) new dipstick+ tube fitted, both vac/breather lines on inlet manifold
Today, fitted a new tyre, to stop that awful bearing type noise (cheap rubbish tyre fitted before) ordered 2 strut mounts+bearings, so I can lower the front soon
Got my old inlet mani back from the engineer, might have to refit due to leaky 8/10mm port on the current one

The 1 thing i didnt change at the wknd cos i thought they looked ok it failed on,n/s trackrod end

Too right,will fit a pair at the wknd then back in for retest next wednesday
ordered myself a set of wheels because i passed my trade test of my apprenticeship

Loads of paper work and assessments and stuff, it's so long winded too! Worth it tho!
yeah too right mate, i cant count how many folders of paperwork ive done now, dont think i did that much paperwork at school!!
hopefully i'll get taken on as a technician but otherwise theres still jobs out there faz1979

Should get one,
I think half of mine went in the bin, the college marked it all, and sent me a letter a year later saying I need to collect it from them or they'll bin/ destroy it, but never got round to it,(only just remembered lol, it's miles away from me! the knowledge is still in place tho.
