Hello HAZE.

I've crawled tru the web discovering the benefits between Xenon (HID) and LED. But HID means to change my halogen type headlights and good HID are expensive (like every good stuff). So LED have me fall in love. They are little, cheap, reliable (so far) and even the ballasts (a 5cm box) fit all inside the Leon OEM headlights.

The light? Let me put it this way: Halogen Philips White Vision or Crystal Vision? Forget it!
If you want a PURE WHITE 6500K light (without blueish) these are excellent!!
A crisp, pure and solid white light and the pattern is exactly the same as halogen bulb. No need to ajust, no need to adapt, nothing, just plug and play.
In Portugal will pass MOT. Don't dazzle incoming traffic (tested yesterday with a friend).

I've drove less than a mile with it and the light output is better but doesn't go much more far than halogen. So HID's light array will get further and a good HID set will give more brightness.

But for a single plug and play the style becames like a modern LED Tecnology type of headlight.

I'll get some pics tonight and you'll see what I mean.

Regards

Replaced brake light switch. Reasonably easy job, had to remove 5 torx screws and pulled the dash cover outwards, disconnected the 2 cables for the light swtiches and then then I had access to the switch. Was fitting the new one (Green 1C0945511A) using the old method of holding the pedal down, clicking in and releasing the peddle. this didnt work so I removed and refitted with the peddle in place and that did work. Old brake switch was Purple 1J0945511D

Drove to the coast today. Car didn't miss a beat. The furthest I've driven it since I've owned it. (Only had it 8 weeks). Drove better than I thought it would and returned 39mpg!

Happy for you BigJohn, but sad for this forum as you are a very helpful and valuable community member especially since Lee69 sold his Cupra and moved on also. Thanks for the useful knowledge and good luck with the Beemer.

took it to a car show which was my first vw show. oh and had a little giggle at the fact i can now hear my car dump off thanks to my drilled airbox. really needs a ram air induction kit though

Right rear door lock replaced this morning and resealed the window reg carrier. Door now locks and unlocks as it should. Nice when things work properly. Now I've just noticed my rear wiper is leaking water into the boot! :( Oh well, that's a job for another day.

I've just sold my 328 coupe after 3 years of ownership. Was a nice drive out on a run, not so great around town tho. Never had any trouble with it. Loving my cupra now tho. So light and nippy and still nice and smooth on a run.
Good luck with it big John. Its a totally different animal! Lol

Tell me about it, my mpg is 5 mpg better that the cupra and miles better on the motorway. I just fancied a change, once I get it tuned up and a nice exhaust on it then it's will be a monster lol. Cupra was a great car spent a few quid on her but I always loved my big cars, I'm 6f4 so the bm is good for me lol

Fitted an alcantara gaiter a week or so ago but needed the knob changing. Wasn't a lot of info out there wrt aftermarket knobs so took a bit of a risk on this. Happily, it fits. Well chuffed!

When I saw it I thought it was an R8 knob but was listed as an s3 8v gear knob.

Disintegrating dipstick holder replaced with genuine one, previous owner had fitted a far eastern ebay special that basically split into about a billion bits when i was removing.

Some small shards down into sump so oil change & pickup check at the weekend, thankfully only driving to and from train station for rest of week.
