I have a 2.5" catback by Roar - Don Silencioso and Im thinking about fitting their downpipe with 200 cell cat (made by HJS) but Im worried about failing the emissions test. I live in Spain I guess it is different for every country not sure if HJS catalytic converters are any good.
The idea of fitting/unfitting the whole thing every year is teeeeedious.
Don’t worry. You probably have the exact same cat as me. Mine has been through 2 MOTs and passed. I always tell them about the cat and they let they leave my car running for a while before testing it.
The problem with the area, infact the city i live in. You get 2 choices of tester.
Either will fail it on a bird **** on the windscreen and god knows what else.
Or have the worlds worst test where the car could be dangerous and you'd get a straight pass with no advisories.
Nothing inbetween.

Any fuel suitable hose, i grabbed some from halfords.
You could get the steel braided stuff, but its non functional really and the anodized clamps at the ends are cheapo shite than have jubilee clamps in them. (i had some and they just rattled and span around on the end, binned em)
Random question, but is the ARL engine supposed to have a lower timing belt cover?
I took the undertray side off to get access to the front control arm bolt and there was no cover on the bottom half of the timing belt.
If there was one, I have absolutely no idea where it's gone, but if there should be one, I need to get one on there quickly because it's pretty open to the elements.

I thought so. I've got absolutely no idea where it's gone - unless when I changed it, the guy who was helping me didn't put it back on - but that was about three years ago now.
I did a search for one last night, but didn't really come up with anything helpful in terms of parts and numbers. Any idea what I should be looking for?

Have messaged a few breakers on eBay to see if they have a timing belt cover. Maybe I'm crazy, but I noticed that the offside undertray star washers had gone, and those aren't prone to just falling off. After the guy at Kwik Fit stole the battery cover, could they have stolen the timing belt cover too? I just feel like that's more likely than the possibility of me going something like two years without noticing something like that. It wouldn't just have fallen off on its own.
In other news, booked in for a wheel alignment on Monday.
Oh, and I bought a new clutch and DMF...

Have messaged a few breakers on eBay to see if they have a timing belt cover. Maybe I'm crazy, but I noticed that the offside undertray star washers had gone, and those aren't prone to just falling off. After the guy at Kwik Fit stole the battery cover, could they have stolen the timing belt cover too? I just feel like that's more likely than the possibility of me going something like two years without noticing something like that. It wouldn't just have fallen off on its own.

Mines bin the same the whole time! If i look under from the drivers side i can see the bottom of the belt.
How long do you think yours has been like that? It's super weird because I can't think of any reason for that happening...

I imagine a previous owner removed it and didnt refit, he also hacked a hole in the arch to vent the SMIC. smh....
At the least, that makes me a little less scared of driving it, especially if yours has been like that for a while. I'm still trying to get hold of a new cover for it - loads of top covers, but I'm finding it hard to find the lower ones, and there might even be a middle cover too. Hopefully it's just a matter of popping it on through the wheel arch, rather than taking pipes off like I had to, to change the thing. If it got taken out that way, I must be able to put it back on that way too.
Woke up at 3am this morning worrying about cleaning my turbo. Nightmares about snapped bolts etc. Watched a few videos on YouTube and it looks like the exhaust is attached with a metal stud with nuts on it, rather than bolts, so I think I'm less likely to break anything when the time comes. If I can get hold of a timing belt cover, I'll probably fit that and then do my turbo clean while the undertray is off.
My neighbours are going to love me. The car was on axle stands all last week, and I know the people on the other side of the street could see their house prices dropping with this bloke fixing his car. "Can't he afford to take it to a garage?"
