That foam does absolutely sod all to reduce the clackety ole racket the PD engines make so I personally wouldn't waste my time and money trying to replace it.
Silent coating the bonnet would be more effective if you're aiming to reduce engine noise.

mines all taped up but only reason I've not ripped it out is due too the rubber grommets that hold the cover on as the foam seems like it acts also as a buffer, not sure how long they would last without, reason i asked at the foam place as wanted it free and the fire rated glue lol, the foam surround is as bad, last time got a price for that it was like 90 quid wtf lol, sod changing that, bonnet sound proof is sound though.

This has always been my problem - I want to do some proper sound insulation in the car, just so my doors go clunk instead of clang, but when it comes down to it, the cost of the decent stuff makes it too expensive, and I'm not going to strip down my doors and everything for stuff that's not up to scratch. Right now, everything is weighed up against how much the car is actually worth, and it's not like the car is that noisy anyway.

I don't think the valve cover gets hot enough to need really fireproof stuff - and judging from the crumbly stuff that came with the car, SEAT wasn't that fussed either. The engine bay does look so much better with the proper cover though.

How is it with a rear ARB?

Well, ive tried it and i like it. Made difference on the roundabouts.
But, and its a BIG BUT.....
Id probably try and find one 2nd hand.
I like it but weather its worth the £180(?) new, im not so sure.

So as standard my FR TDI came with only a front ARB, over time I’ve fitted a front lower strut brace, a rear ARB and a front upper strut brace - what a difference in turn-in to corners/roundabouts and general handling

It doesn't really encroach on the boot space BUT you can forget using the boot with the rear seats folded flat unless you unbolt it.

That's been the main reason I haven't done it. Even though I'm a 'handling not horsepower' sort, it would be both a big and expensive job to buy two new ARBs and then drop the subframe to fit the front one.

It would be an excuse to change the subframe bushes and fit the steering rack bush I've got in my parts box - not to mention respray the subframe - but for me that's a long day under the car.

I went with the monumental increase of 1mm by using the R32 front anti roll bar coupled with Superpro bushes and it's spot on tbh, definitely never crossed my mind that it was wallowing on corners.
