I've just stuck a set of the budget Brembo pads on my VW Touran...they're OK but certainly not good enough for the Leon with almost 4 times the power
Coincidentally I've just received another set for the Leon but these are the Brembo Sport HP2000 pads and at triple the price I'm expecting something a little better.

Finally had a couple of hours to wash mine today.
Not been washed since summer, but it has been laid up since then while we’ve been building an extension.
Had it under cover for the first few months but it’s been out for the worst months over winter. Covered in bird crap and even had green on the window rubbers.
Looking forward to spring to spend a full day on it but at least it’s had a wash.

Yes it was dark by the time I’d finished. Lol

I've got the cheap Brembos on the back of mine. Got them from Euros because I saw Brembos for cheap and thought I was getting a bargain.

Horrifying.

I used to think pads were pads. Not anymore. I can't wait to change them.

Oh, and, if you're not finishing washing the car in darkness, you're not doing it right.

Brembo HP2000 could be an option. I can’t seem to find ferodo DS performance anywhere. Maybe they don’t do them for the Cupra R with brembos?? I’m hesitant about DS2500 since strictly speaking they’re not road use (I’m thinking worst case scenarios, insurance etc).

I've run Ferodo DS2500 & Mintex M1144 as daily pads and both were fine.
I've currently got DS3000 on my Leon which were poached from a breaker but they take too much warming up for my liking which isn't surprising considering they're essentially a track pad.

used front Mintex M1144 and the discs on a few cars but was told when they got bought out they were not as good as the discs warped ect lick cheap discs but that was a while ago unless things have changed, did not want to chance it that's reason i got Brembo discs and ferodo pads, good pads them Mintex M1144 when i had them but the dust was excessive but they never let me down

Got brembo pads and they aint great.
I havnt washed my car.

Well I haven't washed mine in months as its still in paint shop, so I won't av too lol but I've been there ?,
I have 2500 pads on mine I really like them, I also have a set of tarox strada pads as back ups they are a good pad but took time to warm up and the brake dust was not the greatest so I swapped to the 2500 pads but when they need replaceying the stradas will go pack on, performance pads ain't cheap sadly.

Washed my car.

It's covered in sap and other mess and it could really do with a clay bar, but I really don't have the energy for that today. I'm going to wait until I paint the bumpers to do all that stuff.

My bonnet is covered in little stone chips too. Part of me just wants to spray the whole thing, but that's a big job for me to do with rattle cans.

While I was doing the cleaning, I decided to open the offside rear door and give it a shake to see if it made any noise in the hope I could track down my knocking sound. There's definitely something loose in there. Maybe a cable or something that should be clipped in place. The other door doesn't make the same noise. When the door is closed I can definitely imagine it making a more obvious hollow knocking sound.

I'll have a closer look tomorrow. At least my neighbours get a rest from my car being on axle stands half the time. I've probably brought the house prices down by at least £100k.

I know shocking. Especially seeing as I won the cleanest car award a couple of years ago at the Cupra.net annual meet.
Luckily it came off without having to pressure wash the rubbers, don’t like doing that on the Leon.
Iron fall out, snow foam and a good soap and wash mitt got it off apart from one area which needed a bit of persuasion with a very soft tooth brush.
Roll on spring!

The. bake pad isn’t something an insurer is going to start removing to see what you have on there.
Additionally, the 2500’s are a brilliant pad for road use. They warm up and bite properly after maybe braking 3 times.
Even cold they work.
People seem to think it won’t stop the car. Quite the opposite.
You may need slightly more force within first 2 mins of your drive but most of the time you just don’t notice.
The 2500 is great on road and you won’t experience fade or squealing.
They work on track but the car needs to be very light or they will overheat quite easily.
I use Carbotech xp10’s at present and they stay stone cold on a school run etc and squeal like stick pigs every time you come to a gentle stop. They still stop the car fine.
Also very good on track.
Now going to try Pagid Black Series.
Basically, don’t be put off. If your car is a road car you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
I wouldn’t use any other if mine was just a road car.

Thanks Sparkie. Its good to hear experiences of others. I'm most likely going to get the Brembo HP2000's. They seem like the closest replacement for OEM and I'm unlikely to be doing anything beyond some spirited road driving. I've got my Brembo calipers back from refurb now but need to sort out a few "issues". I'll update my thread on that when I have sorted them. I also bought some braided hoses from Badger5.
