Had the F1 Asy 6s on the front since feb, prefer them to the pilot sport 4's that i had on there previously. Even in the cold damp winter conditions they were great.

Yes, I will follow your advice because the brake pedal doesn't feel that hard. Guess there is air trapped inside the master cylinder. I think I will do the VCDS bleeding and then the old fashioned two person method.
That's what sucks for me - when I got the car, the brakes weren't the best and have never been grabby or confidence inspiring. I've got the standard brakes on my FR though - not Brembos.
I'd love to upgrade, but that's going to cost me...

Replaced all for from Asy 2 too Asy 6 i didn't think id see a difference but you do, Asy 6 do have a stronger side wall though as there Ev ready tyres

Just remembered, got a set of adaptors to see what the wheels would look like on the car (and get away from the all seasons I have)

Been cleaning the engine bay & the more I clean, the dirtier everything else seems. A FFS moment.
Also, not today, but recently I spotted a fellow black MK1 pulled over with hazards on. Of course I pulled alongside to offer help, but the dude was already filling up from a can. I laughed & said the cars were heavy drinkers & then my fuel guage hit 1/4 & beeped loudly. It was a funny moment, like the cars were taking the piss out of us ?

Collected my car from the garage after a major issue…
So last month I was returning from Goodwood FOS having taken the Cupra on its longest run out since I’ve owned it. Was running beautifully overall until I got to 5 miles from home. A bit of an odd noise coming from under the bonnet when car idling at roundabout after a few miles on M4 but seemed to still pull ok. Wondered if aircon clutch was rattling. Made it to 2 miles to go, at 30mph the engine died and we coasted to a halt. Very strange…

Cam belt was done 3k ago and moved the cover slightly at top and could see belt so maybe not that
Pushed car off of road into a kind soul’s driveway overnight until it could be recovered.
Next day got it recovered by mechanic mate to garage. Initial assessment was cambelt issue, along with all the drama of it being an interference engine :-(
So it seems as though the tensioner had failed and bolt attaching it to head had sheared, belt partially shredded and I guess had skipped a tooth initially (when that noise occurred) and then went more than a bit out of time and boom.
Credit to my local VW group specialist garage who have put the car right and it now has a shiny new head on it and lives to fight another day!

Man, that's a harrowing tale, bet you couldn't sleep that night. Glad you've made it through though, good news ?
When you had the belt done did they not change all the pulleys and water pump also as that’s normally what you change every 4 years
It was a nightmare at the time, tho could of been much worse if I’d broken down further from home. May just have been a ticking timebom waiting to get me on another occasion. Ironically I hadn’t planned to use the car for trip to FOS but a last minute change of passengers and plan, plus insistence from my lad meant we did.
I kick myself for not having pulled over sooner to pop the bonnet nearer to hearing the noise but I’m not sure what I would have diagnosed at the time.
Yes it had the full belt, pulley etc and a metal impellor water pump fitted at the time.
Unless they didn’t tighten the bolts up correctly, expensive repair but at least it’s not written off
